INTRO TO MY SECOND BLOG PAGE & WHITE CHOC CHIP COOKIE

My need for a second page is to complement my art website.
For some time, I would have liked  to react right away to the comments made on my paintings, but  both of the web masters of my art website www(dot)stgermainart(dot)com are extremely busy.
Also, every change I like to make is going to cost me. That is not in my budget now.
AND.....I have you, who are already reading my stuff (thank you, you are much appreciated!!)

"Art Notes" will be more "off the cuff", telegram style, or like notes jotted down on a sticky note. Who knows it will grow into a book!
So, bloggie friend, click on the bottom of  "view my complete profile." There you will see my blogs  "Mysteries" and "Art Notes".
Click on  Art Notes. I have already posted something there.
I have not finished customizing the background, but that will come soon enough!

When the days turn shorter and colder, my cookie gene kicks in. It may have to do with my Dutch gene that says you can't have tea of coffee without a cookie.

My favorite holiday cookie is a chocolate cookie with white chocolate chips in it. Whole wheat flower is less tasty with this cookie, so I use non-bleached flour. I always reduce the sugar amount a few teasoons than the original recipe here. The recipe makes about 45 mid- size cookies.

On ungreased sheet drop teaspoons full of batter.
Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit or 180 degrees Celsius for 10-11 min.
Edge is lightly browned. Cool for 2 min.

Ingredients
Combine and set aside:
          2 1/4 cup flour
          2/3 cup cocoa
          1/2 tsp. salt
          1 tsp. baking soda
Beat  with combined ingredients (above) till creamy
          1 cup of butter, softened
          3/4 cup sugar
2/3 cup brown sugar.1 tsp vanilla
 Add slowly
         2 eggs
 Stir in
1/2 cup white chocolate chips or chunks

Be careful not to get in chocolate shock!

Art, cookies and chocolate chip, what a combination!

I guess I have just entered heaven.

I tried sending you an email a few days ago but it came back. Can you please send me a message . . .

As for your second blog, just think, my two were started almost six months ago and I am still making design changes and general fine-tuning. I hope to have it done by the end of the year.

I wish you good luck with Art Notes and all the very best for you and the family this weekend,
Egmont

Egmont,
I sent you the email message.
Eek, that was not what I was expecting to hear (patience never has been my virtue -just teasing).
Hope to see you in the real heaven, Egmont:)
Thank you -you and your family have a great weekend too!

Your cookies look delicious and fabulous! I must confess that I never bake. I once tries to bake a cake and did all the necessary things but the cake didn't rise and was as flat as a pancake. So I gave up. So I've bought all my cakes and cookies since that time.
You think that the Dutch cows are the best there are? Wow, I believe: dat je chauvinistisch bent! Ha, ha..!!

I look forward to your new blog and to see more of your art~! I think I'll get my mom to try that cookie recipe of yours - looks delicious.

I'm so busy with school "stuff" these days (esp. exams) that I don't find the time to paint, but I am working on an oil painting.

Jeannette StG said...

Reader Wil,
That is an honest confession! it took me a long time with premade mixes, before I could bake a cake. Twenty years ago in Holl. they didn't have those mixes where you only add 2 eggs and water!

But with these kind of cookies it's different - they don't have to rise. Also, you just take an eating spoon, fill it up with batter and plop it on the baking sheet. You don't have to form it!

Yeah in some things still "chauvinistisch":)
Have a great weekend!

Jeannette StG said...

Sreddy,
Ah, you have a mom who does these things for you! Lucky you! My son took a cooking class in high school, so he can make some things, but never has made cookies either! LOL

Yes, school stuff comes first, because that's your future. Way to go Shreddy! When I was in school I painted on weekends and vacations, so I know what you mean!
Hope to see that oil painting sometimes!

It's very evil of you to post a recipe with white chocolate in the cookies. I simply love that and it seems so simple to make. It's going to be very difficult to withstand that, as there's nothing better than home made cookies.

You're right, Dutch people always have a cookie or two with their tea or coffee. It wouldn't be the same without it. We do have our traditions.

Jeannette StG said...

Irene, try it, it IS really easy to make!!When you make it, you can give part of it away to one of your friends as a git?
I keep the good traditions LOL

Austrians are like the Dutch: There's always some sweet concoction around with tea or coffee (Austrians drink mostly coffee, tea is for the sick - I am one of those sick ones who can't live without tea *smile*).

I admire your stamina: I tried to keep a second blog, for things that are not a good fit with my first blog, but I failed miserably. Simply could not manage to keep up with both, having already a hard time staying with my first one. :-(

Good luck and lots of success with your new enterprise!

Merisi said...

Jeannette,
have you tried to use whole meal spelt flour?
In the USA, Whole Foods used to sell a very good one, maybe King Arthur. I found that it had a sweeter taste than whole wheat, and not at all the unpleasant aftertaste some whole wheat flours have.

Unknown said...

Yes to cookies and Yes to art. The rest is history. Good luck with yout new directions in blogging. They sound fun.

Jeannette StG said...

Merisi,
Have an Austrian friend here, and our tastes are very similar:)
Never drank tea when living in Holland, but when they started coming out with green and white tea, I liked it so much that I'm half tea and half coffee lover:)

Hope I can keep up with 2 blogs - it probably means that the intervals between the posts will be longer LOL

I've had King Arthur's whole wheat flour before, but maybe I could try whole meal spelt flour (guess you like to bake?)- thanks for the suggestion!

and My Kingdom for one of those cookies!

Jeannette StG said...

Kathryn,
They're my "second youth" monkies (or second change of teen years - the first run was way too serious:) )

what's the name of Your Kindom? hope it's not a dumb guestion LOL

Dick said...

Of course I agree, no coffee or tea without a cookie.

Jeannette StG said...

Dick,
Give me a high-five! The glass raised to cookies and MORE cookies!

Jeannette StG said...

Christine,
Thanks! You probably saw my comment on your blog.:)
