MOMENTS - OUT OF LIFE OF ARTIST

My day always starts with tea. My son-in-law got into
teas too. So he and my middle daughter took us to
a tea store where a tea maker from Teawana is sold.
One puts  the tealeaves on the bottom, and pours
the boiling water on top of it. Then the tea drips
into one's teacup underneath. I couldn't resist
trying a  white tea, called Snow Geisha. Delicieux!

Still cutting off roses from my old front yard...
in November! I know, I am spoiled living in California.
Roses make my day - I never can get enough of them.

In-between running errands, mostly for food,
painting supplies, and this time of the year
Christmas shopping.  Although I may look like
a bag lady, my bags need to be nice
or cute, like this little one my oldest daughter
brought from the Philippines, but still big enough
for my wallet, lotion and chapstick.

In the afternoon I often drink a cappuccino. To show you
how small my cappuccino maker is, I
put a pint of whipped cream carton next to it.
I'm mostly too much in a hurry to make the foam,
but its a treat with liquid whipped cream.

Often more of my day is spent on making preparations
to paint, than my time painting on canvas. It may be
in doing research on skeletal structure. And I actually
watched two movies for the movement of this horse.
This was the THIRD sketch I made for the painting
Night Riders(which I'll show you at another time).

As you can see, I give numbers to the values
(from light-1 to dark-3)
Often the success of a painting hinges on how much time
one wants to spend in preparation.
How far one comes, also often depends on
how disciplined the artist is.

Always make time to see the sun setting or
to look at the clouds on my walk.
These clouds are like "pastels in the sky."

This was a first bracelet I made with directions
from a magazine. Some adjustments!
I exchanged big round ceramic beads for
smaller glass ones, because the first ones felt too heavy.
What size of wrists do they give instructions for??
I  made this with one flower less, and was still
too big for me, so I put the "oval "opening on the top
around the last flower when wearing it.

Since it's Fall you know that in-between and at night
I am knitting hats, scarves, socks, or other things.
I thrive on having multiple projects going on
at the same time and drive everyone else crazy with it.

Thanks for telling us about the many different activities that make up your very full daily life.
And the pictures are great, esp. the last. :)
Lots of shalom to you.

I like the picture of you knitting; you look lovely in it and so does the outfit you're wearing.

I seldom drink tea, I like decaff. granulated coffee. I do like capucino too, but drink it usually when I'm out in town. I've also made some beads bracelets (not as beautiful as yours) but this hobby didn't last long. I stick to sewing which has many practical sides for me.

I like that picture of you, Jeannette. Now I really and truly have a good idea of what you look like. I copied it and put it in my friends folder. You have such a sweet face.

ROSES from your yard! Oh how you taunt and tease us in the north....

Beautifully written: I too have roses in November, they are the last flowers in my garden, sometimes they bloom long into December.
Watching sunsets takes my breath away; I can watch stunning ones from my windows.;)
Lovely pictures.

I start the day with a quad almond mocha breve. Love that steamed heavy cream. How nice you still get to enjoy roses from the old house. I call myself a bag lady and would add that one to my cute collection. Really like the bracelet. I can see the colors are perfect for you. You are one busy and beautiful lady Jeannette.

Dina,
You're welcome Dina! I guess when one is busy, one doesn't notice how busy, LOL

I can't tell you how excited I am for the new archeological find (your people as a whole)

Duta,
thank you Duta. For my job I have to look presentable, so that fits well with my trendiness:)
I never used to drink teas (except for when I was sick) till the stores came out with several kinds of green and white tea.

It gives a special kind of satisfaction to make one's own jewelry (especially when one is picky like I) -it probably won't last very long with me either, since it sends up being more expensive than bought ones LOL

Irene,
Yay, here you are!! I like the sophistication of your new appearance!
I am humbled that you think so much of me, Irene:)

Gary,
I have to admit Gary that I didn't notice till this year that the roses were blooming this long! The advantage of the North is GREEN hillsides for a big part of the year, instead of the brown ones down here:)

Zuzanna,
Thank you Zuzanna - glad you like this post.I'm surprized that they bloom so long in Denmark!! I don't even know till when they bloom in Holland.
Come to think of it, roses are much more popular in the States than they are in Holl.

Oh Jeannette how I differ from you! One thing at a time for me - the blog and one other is all I can manage - at present that other is my textile art and I can hardly find time for that.
Love those wonderful roses by the way.

to Gaelyn - the cute bag-lady,

Thank you for your kind words, Gaelyn! I would go for a mocha too, to start the day:) That's the advantage of making your own things - you have one of a kind!-and your own colors:)

Weaver,
We are like clocks - each on ticks in a different way. I guess I like juggling things:)
Hmmm, I like to see your textile art - any chance of that?

I start my day with tea too! I'm partial to Earl Grey with milk.

Jeannette StG said...

Jen,
Oh my goodness, I don't know many in the US who drink their tea with milk! My mother used to, and you drink the favorite tea of my daughter.

Angie Muresan said...

Jeannette, my husband is a tea drinker, but for me it just tastes like flavored water. There are several tea cafes here and I keep saying I will head over one day and sample some. Haven't gone yet. Maybe soon. Where I really want to go is to this boutique hotel which serves tea each afternoon.

Jeannette StG said...

Angie,
Maybe you have a British friend that can make tea for you - their tea is as strong as coffee, so one can drink it with milk in it.
Ooo that boutigue hotel sounds special! (I bet your husband will be up for that!)

Hello Jeannette, thank you for the visit to my blog lindalusbtdt.blogspot.com on Oct 30th. It is always to nice to meet new people. I love your blog! I have added myself as a follower! I have always known that I have some artistry in me but have never gone further than scribbling and just copying photos. My hubby bought me a whole paint set, spent a few hundred dollars and also an eisel and I have never opened the paints! I know, that is horrible. I was born in Rotterdam Holland and my parents immigrated to America when I was a baby. My grandfather was an artist and we have most of all of his paintings of Holland. The also etched in pencil and was a brilliant artist, as a hobby. I guess that is why I was so drawn to your post....thank you for visiting again. I guess my artsy gift will just have to remain in writing poetry and stories...
smiles....lindalu

Joey,
Thank you Joey. I am so blessed to have a full life!

Linda,
Thank you for following my blog:)
Left a comment on your blog about (me) being Dutch.
Hey, if you already have a paint set given to you, why don't you use it? You can't lose anything!!

What kind of paint were you given: oil, watercolor, or acrylic?
Just start with a very simple scene, like a flower or tree, or vase, bird, cat or dog - something you like very much or are familiar with.

Then color it with a two color scheme, like red and green, blue and yellow or orange, red and gray or light blue.
I know that after the first one, you want to do a second one!
If you have more questions, I would be more than happy to help you! Chance of a life time, Linda - you have the time now!

What a full and busy day you have Jeannette.

I am so sorry I did not get to your e-mail yesterdat but I will tell you why in my reply a bit later. It has been just too hectic here. Just too much happening.

What a super post:) You keep busy during the day with relaxing or reflective moments in between - sounds just my kind of day - I start the day with tea too, then coffee about 11a.m. afternon tea and then coffee after an evening meal. I loved reading about your day:)

Jeannette StG said...

Joan,
I like busy, otherwise it gets boring, but nothing like your days Joan:)
Okay, I'll talk to you later (tomorrow probably) then!

Rosie,
Thanks so much, Rosie. Having worked with people in the therapy room, helps me to not be an A-type personality:) High blood pressure, etc. is hard to get rid of!!

So, you don't do the afternoon tea where England is so known for?

Excellant post-You have inspired me to start using some of my sketches on my blog even though most of my artist endeavors are with photography. Thanks it's fun to add something of mine even if it is not perfect - only a sketch. I do like your comment on prep work the better the photo I start with the better the final results. Johnina Young

I like tea but I like coffee much more.
Great to see some of the things you do and a very nice picture of you.

Jeannette StG said...

Johanina,
Thank you Johanina! Am glad you see that it doesn't need to be perfect. Bloggers are very forgiving that way. The most important is that you share something of yourself - that's what they like!

Jeannette StG said...

Dick,
Here in the US I keep getting round about questions about my life, so that's why I once in a while do these kinds of posts.

When you took off in the summer from blogging? I know your readers would have loved some vacation pics, or a collage of pics of where you've been.
I know in Holl. you'll share these only with family and closests friends, but here friendship develops a lot quicker.
So, you still have a cup of Douwe Egberts there?:)

Hmmmm...seems as if you really know how to multitask - LOL! Have you ever tried some rooibos tea? I think it's very South African - don't know if you get it overseas. Enjoy your weekend :)

O yes, Rooibos tea is very well known here, as well as in Holland. I have it on my cupboard!
Thanks, you have a good weekend too!
