EASTER WHITE

For me Easter is about WHITE, as a symbol for untouched, clean, a new beginning.
I need a new beginning from time to time. When things are a bright new white, they do get dusty or muddied after a while. Guess it's the nature of things here on earth...

a white Camellia, in pine cone shape...

whether they are "things", relationships, emotions, and even our life.  Because the resurrection of Jesus the "new" means a clean white slate for all who want to believe His offer to wipe all the wrong doings of our list.

What is more breathtaking than a white iris?
But  the most elegant of the whites are the Calle lilies

My hurry to catch
 their long slender look
on canvas
reminds me on the haste
with which his friends
prepared the burial
thinking that was their last
gesture of honor.
Not knowing He would
sting death forever.

* I'm away for Easter weekend, so I scheduled this post, but please leave your comment, and I'm looking forward to get back with you on Monday. Have a joyous Easter all of you!

I agree - white is the color I associate most with Easter. Pure, clean, free. And your lilies! It wasn't until I read your post that I realized I wasn't looking at a photo! You are an amazing artist.

Wonderful white post. My favorite whites are snow and lilies of the valley.

Happy Easter!

That is a beautiful post - and fabulous photographs. I particularly like the arum lilies.

I hope you had a really good Easter!

Hi Jeannette! Your capture of the white camellia is so beautiful! We have a red camellia bush/tree in our yard but they wilt within a day or two after blossoming.

Are those flowers in your painting the same as arum lilies? I do like your background! How do you get it to have such a "feel"?

Happy Easter to you!! Please do stop by my blog and tell me what you think of my painting.

Clytie,
Thank you Clytie for your kind comments! Hope you had a good Easter - it will take some time till I'll catch up with everyone's blog:)

Joey,
Yes, aren't Calle lilies beautiful? Hope you had something to cook on/for Easter? I'll read it hopefully in one of the coming days:)

Jen,
Thank you, hope your Easter was greaat! Oh, yes, these are beautiful whites too. Lilies of the valley were my brides bouquet, so fragrant too!

Cyntia,
Thank you for visiting -I missed you, friend! I'll visit your blog in the next few days:)

Gilly,
Thank you Gilly -you are teaching me about a new lilly -I'll have to look them up:)

Sreddy,
I'll visit your blog as soon as possible! Thank you -too bad your Camellias wilt so quickly,! We used to have a fuchsia colored one at my previous house, and once the flower opened itself, they at least bloomed for a week.
I'll have to google about the arum lilies.

The trick with black as well as white is to put patches of black mixed with another color in it, because technically black is the absence of color, and white is the sum of all colors (prizm).

On my 2nd blog page ART NOTES you can see the progression of this painting (I don't know WHY the pic of the lilly doesn't show on the top gadget -it should, but I'm not good with fixing the gadgets LOL)

Kathryn,
Thank you, Kathryn!
Hope you got to see your little grand child for Easter? If not, hope you'll get to do it soon -as you know these little ones, stay small only for a short time!:)
