SPRING IN REVERSE ?

Please scroll down for Midweek Blues and Watery Wednesday:)

Spring is still weak here. Like a toddler who learns to walk, she falls after a few steps.
Two weeks ago the weather was in the 60ties when we walked this path next to the American River - above on the right  (for Midweek Blues, hosted by Rebecca).
This last week though on Wednesday the temp. in the car pointed during the day to 44 degrees here in Laguna Niquel. Hubby heard on the news that police was directing traffic to slow cars down, because snow had fallen in the Grapevine!*
You in the  Northern regions are more used to that, but here in Southern California, I can't remember this ever happened in March after Spring started!

Spring seems to be a late bloomer, since the azela bush  by my front door is blooming two full months later than last year.

And we still have rain on and off lately (long time ago that we had rain showers for such a long period). So, last week I had a sweater on, and a coat with scarf for outside, while blogfriends from Holland and the UK were talking about sitting outside and summery clothes -really weird! Of course, now I'm finally writing about it, what do you know...today it started clearing up!
For Watery Wednesday, hosted by 2sweetnsaxy.

* the Grapevine is a mountainous stretch of road 2 hours North from L.A. that is known for being dangerous with snowfall (because many Californians don't know how to drive in snow:)  ).

Our weather has been the same here. We had even reached temps in the mid 70's and then an inch of snow fell on Saturday.
Your azaleas are gorgeous!

One of my friends said the road to Tahoe (or was it Mammoth) was closed for 20 hrs due to snowfall. He doesn't ever remember that happening before.

I don't like spring snowfalls. I would prefer a bit more order to my seasons.

Love the picture with the luscious droplets on the azalea

I am always more worried about how others are driving in bad weather than in my own. Some people can be pretty scary when they are not confident in snow and ice.

Love the azaleas. We still have nothing.

It my office mate 14 hours to get to Arvin during that snowfall. They also detoured to the Mohave and Tehachapi.

P.S. The park is called Najoqui, along the 101, before you get to Solvang.

And we are getting the reverse ~ a couple of summery days and then a chill late afternoon and early morning which seems to whisper that winter is near! And we hardly knew a summer in Melbourne this year! Lovely photo!

Well our sunny weather in the UK has now turned to rain, or drizzle today. I guess where ever you live you always have to be ready for any type of weather conditions. Hope you are having sunny weather now.

Carletta,
Oh, a similar story of weirdness:)

Ewok,
Thank you, friend!

California Girl,
That's what we keep saying here, "That never happened before":):)

Lesley,
I'm like you. Surprises should be only the pleasant kind:)

Violetsky,
Oh, sorry, hope plants will soon start blooming where you are!
Especially because the "specialty" here is tailgating!

Evelyn and Ebie,
Yeah, I found out your booboo when I couldn't find your post anymore:) (because one of my other readers is Evelyn!)
Thanks for the adsress!

Climate change is happening. That sounds way more like Oregon than CA.

I sure love your header shot -- always feel like I'm just lying on the floor looking up at that beautiful ceiling"

Jane M,
It was so nice, can't remember how long ago it was that we had the combination of sun and nice temps!

Dianne,
Thanks! it's new -this going back and forth thing the weather does:)

Sallie,
About the header, what you're describing is exactly the idea I had in mind when I explained to hubby how to take this pic:)

beautiful scenery. And the blossoms are gorgeous.
We have satbacks on spring too. Every night temperature falls below freezing point and make all thawing back to ice again.

Yes, I have done some travelling. You can see some of it on my travel blog. But I am Swedish. I live in the central part of Sweden about 93 miles south of Stockholm.

I blame it all on global warming.
If so, we will have hotter and longer summers and then the same for the winters, colder and longer. The cycles are still there but with more amplitude averaging out a mean hotter.
Our earth's thermal blanket has taken a beating and thinning.

My blog's Van Gogh link turned out to only open here but you could paste this one:

We are in the 80's for most of March and down to the 50's and 60's at night.

el nina is not a sweet little thing at all...blustery here, too. No snow any more but the spring skiing is terrific on our mountains.

Hi!
we call this flower " Tutsuji ".
you can see it all around Japan!

Jeannette StG said...

Stephanie,
I don't know if this is the result of el nino...are you skiing?

Ayamlin,
I have a new English word for you:) this flower here is called "azalea" and there are many colors of it.
