For Watery Wednesday and Weekend Reflections
It's so worth it to be on the road, as I see so much
of Spring's blooming hill sides
(between Los Angeles and Sacramento, CA).
Unfinished Hacienda Road, 18 x 27 Pastel, St.Germain
This hilly Hacienda road I passed for 16 years to go to my job as a therapist
in a group clinic. Every year between April and May, it
would look like this. So one fine year
I painted a pastel (unfinished!) of what I saw.

It's also nice to stop and satisfy my curious gene,
to see what is exactly "down there" in the bend of the road!
Oh, little white flowers in trees close to a little stream!
(along the road in Yosemite Nat. Park, CA)
And then maybe crash for a picnic at a sandy beach,
or a swim in a river full of reflections!
I think I'm in heaven!

The springtime hills in California seem especially appealing. I forgot how lush and green they can be. Wonderful!
I really liked the first, with the yellow hill. And a picnic or a swim by the river sounds more then nice.
That's quite a nice easel, my complements to the carpenter/cabinetmaker! It holds the blues very well :-)
Beautiful blue sky and hillside! Lovely little stream too. Such calming, peaceful places to drive by. Lovely post. Mickie :)
Beautiful pics.
Heaven for sure in the last shot. It's fabulous!
Your husband did a great job on that easel. wow! Love that last shot. What a great spot!
Such beautiful and interesting photos!
Irene,
Yes, I always make a beeline to get those pics of blooming hillsides in every Spring, before they turn brown:)
Fjallripan,
thank you, friend! I'm glad you like it!
Woody,
That was a clever comment about the blues, Woody:) I'll pass on the compliment to Mr. Cabinetmaker!
Mickie,
Totally agree with you about peaceful scenes, especially great for two workaholics:)
Thank you Indrani, and also for visiting!
Karen,
Thank you! It's a great sight to get in a relaxed mood:) Thanks for visiting!
2sweetnsaxy,
I'll pass on the compliment -he's great in seeking solutions for me! You would have a field day (probably more than one!) in Yosemite!
Birgitta,
Thanks so much -and also for visiting this blog:)
Impressive landscape in that last picture
The beautiful scene along the river is indeed a piece of heaven.
Beach...catcus blossom
Have a grand day!
I have heard so much about the springtime beauty of fields and flowers of California ... you have caught that so well in 'Hacienda Road'. Are you going to finish it? Those trees catch at my soul.
I think you are too (in heaven)!! We stayed about 50 miles from Yosemite one time -- the only RV Park where we could find space); the drive from there to the Park was incredibly beautiful -- we didn't mind it at all (every day for almost a week)..of course that was a few years ago, gas was cheaper.
That last photo is sooo perfect!
Lovely reminder of the birth of spring in California.
I really love the last "river of reflections and sandy beach."
Your painting is delectable!
SKY DITTY
A little birdie told me,
Although I don’t know why,
That if I were to look up,
Way up into the sky,
I’d see some wondrous planets,
The moon and sun and stars –
There before my very eyes
Blazed Jupiter and Mars!

Great stuff.
Sydney - City and Suburbs
that first photo is so pretty. I love the colors...blue sky, white clouds and the green and yellow down below. So bright and pretty.
I wish my husband had a curious gene. He is so point a to point b oriented it kills me. I often end up driving BACK to places we have been just to satisfy my curious gene. Of course that would be without him. ;)
I kind of like the way the lines of the windshield complement the lines of the hillside in the photo.
Wonderful weekend reflections in the last photo, and I like your unfinished picture.

Monika,
That's why California is so popular, gorgeous nature sites and good weather. But...it's one of the most expensive places in the US too.
Anni,
On the road side from where I took the pic is not heaven though, because it's in the shade where all the mosquitoes are, lol.
Clytie,
What can I say, you have an artist eye -those trees on top was why I started on that painting!
Yep, I'm going to finish it "sometime" and then I'll post Hacienda Road again:)
Sallie,
Oh my, with the winding roads leading up to Yos. that probably was more than an hour?? We make reservations 2 months in advance to go in a cabin 45 min. from the S. entrance!
What we do to see beauty!
Reader Wil,
Yes, that's why it's very busy there in the summer! This pic was taken in Sept.
Nitwit,
Now I'm replying to the comments, it seems that's the most favorite scene!
MMTeacher,
Thank you for the poem:) Thank you for visiting!
JBar,
Thank you, Friend! In your neck of the woods are beautiful places too!
Hip-chick,
That's what I love about Spring in California, it's bright and sunny, but not sweltering hot yet:)
Rebecca,
You made me laugh, because even now my hubby took a few photography classes, I hardly can get him to stop along the way -I have to point it out to him and insist that I want to take a pic!
Kay Davies,
Thank you, and also for visiting my blog! Have a great weekend!
That must have been such a beautiful day ! Thank you so much for sharing it with us...
