I remember there being archeological digs right in my neighborhood where new houses were being built and the remains dated from the bronze age and were from old dwellings built with poles. The original Frisians were black haired and many immigrated to England and were subsequently replced by a Germanic blond haired tribe that we got to know as the Frisians that also live in West Friesland. There are still black haired, blue eyed Frisians today.Irenehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05043376053971475659noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1150709497057343898.post-4165174712329868092009-08-11T02:37:11.352-07:002009-08-11T02:37:11.352-07:00Beautiful summer night pictures! :)Beautiful summer night pictures! :)DawnTreaderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13956409908791716009noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1150709497057343898.post-61890780218087166542009-08-11T01:30:04.817-07:002009-08-11T01:30:04.817-07:00Wil,

The Frisians are our Aboriginals; they were here before the Romans came in 70 AD. The Vikings came a thousand years later . They were here from 800 till 1000 AD. Then they settled in France and England, in Iceland and even for a short time in Greenland, but also in Russia. The Frisians still have their noormannenpoortjes in churches. They were low and opened to the north, so that any one leaving a church had to bow to the north, where the Vikings came from. Part of the prayers in church was: " Oh God,deliver us from the Norsemen!" Friesland was not interesting for the Romans . It was a country that was too wet, too cold and too poor.As far as I know the Frisians were there first.Reader Wilhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06384603525251159272noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1150709497057343898.post-67499601450647626932009-08-10T20:11:28.105-07:002009-08-10T20:11:28.105-07:00Gaelyn,
