MID WEEK RAMBLINGS

Hmmm, what are they trying to say up there?

It looks like a new language. I'm trying to squint, see if I can't decipher the code. My brain is scrambling to find the right files. Ugh, you know by now, an artist has all these questions that no one has an answer for. It starts when you are five (all children are artists!!) when you ask, "Why is the grass green? Why is the sky blue? Why do caterpillars have fuzzy hair? Why does water make you clean? Why do I have to eat broccoli?"

The plot thickens, and so do the clouds!

but I don't mind when the sun breaks through...
Symbolically we could use a little of that.
Yesterday to my consternation, I saw on Dick"s "other" blog "tent city." I missed the TV episode on Oprah of it (sometimes she has good human interest stories:) ). If you missed it too, tent city is in the capitol of California, mind you, the richest, but most expensive state in the USA.

Tent city is getting bigger and consists of people who have lost their jobs a few months ago, and lost their house, and now they live in a tent to weather this storm in their life. You can see on the tents that these are not poor people. They have nice stuff in their tents. Stuff you would see in a house. Another indication that these are a different kind of homeless is that the people are well dressed and trying to be cheerful.

or, suddenly I come upon a rainbow. They're always cool to see, even if I'm not in the days of Noah. Not???
Once I saw two rainbows at the same time, but couldn't take a pic because I was driving, and close to a busy intersection.

Or see pink puffy clouds on my walk through the neighborhood...
All these pics are taken when I'm seeing some cool clouds, and I don't care if my dinner is burning on the stove, but I first need to take these pics! Or, we are on the road, and about every mile the skies keep changing.
Right now there are smoke clouds in the neighborhood of Santa Barbara. Yesterday (Thursday), so reported hubby, there are 30 thousand mandatory evacuated, because there was a hot wind blowing 50 miles an hour.

Update
Today, Friday, there are another 23 thousand on standby for evacuation, and 80 houses destroyed. How is it possible, a blazing fire in May! Believe it or not, on Thurs. it was 81 degrees in my house (approx. 4 pm). It's two hours on the freeway away from me, so don't worry I am safe!

But what I love to see the most is a stormy sky sunset. It gives closure to a day, even when you are driving along the road. That's why I don't like overcast days - they seem to me without beginning or end. I am fortunate that we don't have many of those in California.

Love the clouds and the sun, and yes artists always ask difficult questions. If you really want to know why I became a chemist was to ask even more of them than I could ever imagine.

Joey,
Yes, now I know a little, I can imagine that you have even more questions than I do, LOL.
For some people it's difficult to cope with, because they think they need to have the answer. And then they become somewhat upset, because one kind of answer is not enough for me:)

I guess it's more pleasant ,nowadays, to look at the clouds/rainbow/sunrise/sunset in the sky above us, than at what's at earth level.

Duta,
so true, wish sometimes that people would take off their glasses of fear fear, and start looking at all the wonders the sky and the earth contain. It gives faith and hope for the future.

OH! Pink clouds and a palm tree, yay!

Gary,
I guess you won't have that combination where you live, LOL

You better point that out to me, Ken, LOL - especially Chrles Heston - didn't he die?

Beautiful pictures Jeannette. That tent city is awful and the fires in California just as bad. I am so grateful to have a roof over my head.

So why do people want to move here?? We have those fires every year - no kidding!

I don't ever recall trying to read clouds but I certainly questioned the wisdom behind eating broccoli. Still do, for that matter.

Utenzi,
thanks for visiting!
I didn't know what broccoli was until I came to the USA to live, so I don't have the childhood trauma about that veggie. It was some time before I heard that one of the presidents didn't eat it (can't remember who), and I (then) wondered why so many people chuckled about that comment.
I have a recipe for broccoli-leek soup...you wanna hear it? (just kidding)

I saw a lovely rainbow here today too. I love to look at the sky and see what message the clouds in the sky have for me.
I hope that the tough times over there will be over soon.
Take care from the fires.

Aggie,
Aren't rainbows a wonder? I hope to catch sometime a rainbow going from the left all the way to the right of the sky.
Thank you for being concerned - the fire is Santa Barbara about 1 1/2 hours (on the freeway)away) from us, so I'm safe.

About jetlag, I heard that melatonin helps (since your body itself produces that too), but it didn't do much for me - rest well:).

Rainbows always make me happy. Clouds and rain with sun do make the most beautiful skies.

Wonderful pictures.
But WHY is the grass green and the sky blue, did you find the answer to that? lol

Jeannette StG said...

Ruth,
I never can get enough of looking at the skies:)
By the way, I love your new profile pic!

Dick,
Oh, those are the easy ones:) My answer to the kids when they were little was, "God made it that way." The question of why some children starve to death of hunder, and other live in mansions, becomes a little bit more technical, LOL

I had read about the tent city a few weeks back. Thanks for bringing additional light to it.
