This is my goodbye to the summer
Good Bye sun
you played with tree branches
throwing patterns of shade on hot soil
soon forgotten will be the long chats about nothing
at barbecue's while sipping ice tea

Good bye to he fluttering
and flitting of

Good bye shorts and sandals weather
such fun to play in the water
a nap in warm sand
till a breeze awakens me
and I welcome
the falling
of leaves,
billowing clouds,
gusts of wind
and a Fall of rain.

Goodbyes are always sad. I actually love autumn --- but we have been having the most perfect summer weather, finally, in the last few weeks, so am not ready for any change, yet!
Violetsky,
O boy - yeah I understand -hope to keep the perfect weather a little longer where you live LOL
For me from summer to fall is not as sad as from fall to winter (because I have to travel to see snow)...
What a lovely goodbye to summer! Your pictures show such joyful moments of the summer season.
A wonderful ode to summer's passing. It's feeling rather crisp here temp wise so I know fall is here. Soon my season at the canyon will be over and I'll get to enjoy another fall in Yarnell. Good thing, as I'm not ready for winter.
Diane,
For some reason it "easier" to enjoy summer, maybe because there is generally a more carefree atmosphere - people talk more about vacations and other joyful things (at least where I live).
I'll also repond to your comment on my previous post:)
Gaelyn,
Yes, I'm with you, not ready for winter yet, although I have much more variety in my winter clothes:)
The hardest thing for me to live as tiny as you do is where to put my clothes (but maybe you can get used to anything!)...
What an ace you are capturing such beautiful pictures!! Love the rose and the butterfly.
Yes I guess the seasons will come and go without any help from us. At least they make us realize we are alive too.
It's good we still got seasons. I'm afraid with all this global warming we're gradually loosing them. That will be sad.
Thank you Joan, the butterfly was hubby's pic:)
Life is always changing lik the seasons, and we have to change with it! That is not always easy.
Duta,
I don't know Duta -some say there will be a reversal of the seasons (in colder regions it will get hot, and visa versa...
others say, it will barely have an impact,
and then actually there are more scientists who do not believe that there is such thing as a global warming! I am not smarter than they are, so I'll wait and see:)
We had a very cool and wet summer this year. But September has been nice.
We will see what the Fall brings.
Loved the photos and the post!
I just wanted to wish you a Happy Arrrr! This being International Talk Like A Pirate Day!
What a lovely farewell to summer. I have no idea where all the summer days went.
I wandered over here yesterday and wrote a brilliant comment, then my DSL connection failed. Today my memory fails. I cannot retrieve the brilliant comment.
All I know is I find these words and images languorous, and yes, summery. The photograph of the empty park benches, the proliferation of shadows, does seem to say "good-bye summer." Lovely.
Jeanette, I'm ready for Autumn and all the lovely things that come with it!
Too bad you missed my little give away, I'll probably have another one towards Christmas. I've been tinkering around with jewelry design, really just putting the different elements together, for a couple of years. A lot of friends have wanted to buy the items I make and I really love the craft, so I decided to start a little business selling some of my crochet and jewelry items. I have a link on my crochet blog for my little business blog - tookietrinkets.blogspot.com. I have just a few things on there right now, because I am preparing for a big show with a friend in Oct. She is selling scarves from Thailand and we are pairing my jewelry with her scarfs. We hope to not only do what we love, but help other women in the process. You can check out how I'm planning on doing that on my tookie blog.
Thanks for your interest and your comment.
Blessings!
Super photos - it is hard to say goodbye to summer this year as we have waited so long for it to appear which it finally did over the last week or so - but the signs of autumn are there in the cooler mornings, the darker evenings and the colours changing in the trees:)
Barry,
Since your summer has been cool and wet, I'm rooting for you to have a brilliant-colored Fall.
Thanks for your happy wishes! I can see you haven't lost your sense of humor yet!! A positive attitude is healing to the body - keep it up:) and when you need some encouragement don't hesitate to write me!
San,
No harm don, San! To me the most important is that you DO comment - I love to chat with people!
yes, I've loved to post these pics, before we are too deep into Fall to make sense for some of my bloggie friends in colder regions.
Thanks for the follow, San. Visit as much as you you like!!
NC Mountainwoman,
Sorry, I see I went out of order! I have the same feeling! So at the end I keep holding on to summer as long as I can!
Jen,
Really like the way you combine things in your jewelry. I have made some things for myself, but what I find is that it ends up being as expensive as in the store (it probably has to do with my taste!). I'll show them to you sometime.
Rosie,
Yes, it seems from hearing here and there that it was a very short summer for some! Hopefully it will be longer next year:)
Usually there is hardly any fall to see in California -leaves do not turn colors, they just fall off in Nov. Up till January we sometimes have blazing hot days (in the 30 C.).
Hi Jeannette,
Thanks for visiting and following my blog!
I love your goodbye poem! Here in NC the leaves haven't really started to turn yet but there's that nighttime chill in the air. I love the fall but not what it inevitably leads up to!
Your silk painting is really a feast for the eyes! In a while when all my moving stuff is over I like to know more about it, and I'll be knocking on your door:)
Thanks for your visit. Here the leaves don't really turn, just fall off in California!
I love the metaphor "luxurious patterns of lace in green fields"~! I don't really like summer that much - it gets very hot here in South Africa. Spring and autumn are more interesting with all their colours. Enjoy your weekend :O)
Sreddy,
Thank you! How hot does it get in the summer, Sreddy? You have a good weekend too:)
+ 32 degrees...! Especially with this global warming, we haven't had spring - it has just been cold one day and hot the next (figuratively - LOL!)
goodbye alright, 35 degrees her ein central NY!
What lovely pictures and words and it makes me kind of sad to say goodbye to summer. The days are really getting shorter now. Lovely post Jeannette!
Sreddy,
wow, that is pretty hot. I guess you're fan(ning of) global warming:)
Gary,
Oh my, I had no idea! it's like in California -when driving in our car still needing the air conditioning!
Isn't it supposed to be a lot cooler up there right now?
Lynette,
Yes, even though fall is not a major deal here in California (leaves on trees are not turning color), I've always a tinge of sadness when summer is over.
Wow was this a lovely post..all the photos are excellent Jeannette! That rose would make a simply wild header! Awesome-
Thank you Regina! Hey that's an idea. One time I like to make my header big like yours - they're always so stunning:)
