Just wanted to see if you were really looking! I put the little Scribble and Doodle Window pic on the right in Photo shop and saturated the colors. I'm always having so much fun in Photo shop:)
One time I went to Colorado Springs once to accompany him on one of the jobs that hubby did there.
The home owner had become a friend of hubby. I had never met the couple, but were so thoughtful! On my bed side on the nightstand was something for me to read, "The Lost Painting", which I put on my Shelfari shelf on the right side of this blog here.
They insisted that we would also see some sites there. Well, we made it to one, the Garden of the gods. It is a park with intricate and peculiar rock formations that look like something else. They have given them names. And I forgot them all!
This red and white rock formation was very intriguing to me. All other rock formations were completely red rock or all white rock. This was the only one who had both colors of rock in it.
I had a small watercolor block with me. The white rock was a challenge, and it took me a while to get the hang of it, but my persistence paid off. This little watercolor turned out well.
It may not seem like it, but there are many colors in the "white" rock, so the orange shape would not be suspended in space.
Some of my watercolors I did in the house, which had an amazing panoramic view all the way to Pike's Peak.

Love the painting, and the photoshop version also. The rocks are full of colors. I am envious of your skill with paint. Feel free to use any of my images to paint from.
What a nice couple to stay with.
oh, this is brilliant and lovely!
OMG what beautiful sights and painting!
Gaelyn,
Thank you Gaelyn, also for your permission to paint something I see on your blog - thanks a million!
I know you know skill comes with practice:)
Kathryn,
Thank you, Kathryn - I feel privileged to see those wonderful sites - and this trip was paid for!
Gary,
Thanks Gary - are you still walking in leather? (just teasing)
Rocks have always fascinated me with their unique formations.
Joan,
have a question since I've never been there: is the bush in South Africa mostly flat, or hilly, or mountainous?
I loved both version, unique in its own way.
Perfect work. Your paintings are so alive!
Hi Jeannette,
Thank you for coming back to my post Under the Tuscan Sun!
Wonderful what you did here with Photoshop. I think I should try it! It looks like you can do a lot of things with it!

Indeed the light part of the rock has some other shades of color within it , and togeher with the red part it sure fascinates not only a painter, who naturally sees a creative opportunity , but anyone.
That's a very nice watercolor, Jeannette. You are so very good at them and the colors are strong and not at all washed out and pale like some of them can be. I guess there is the right time for that and the right time for stronger colors. The Garden of the Gods seems like a great place to visit,
Hi Jeannette,
I had some technical difficulty in sending a omment. I don' know why.
Well, I just wanted to point out that the light rock has indeed some other shades of color as well that together with the red part form a rock of a color that fascinates both the painter and
the non-painter.
Lillie,
that is what we artists want, huh - being unique! Thanks Lillie!
Antigoni,
Thank you! haven't been at your blog lately - hope you are doing better than a few months ago!
Now, your kids' school must have started?
Greet,
Yes, I think Photo shop would be useful to you in your job/interest:) I really like your blog - it's classy!
Duta,
I'll respond here to both of your comments. You may have sent your comment at a time that I put this post in "draft" to change something...
Thank you Duta, you are as always very observant, and I hope that non-artists like the white part of these mountains too:)
Irene,
It was in California that I decided to give watercolors a try, because I saw so many styles and approaches I had never seen in aquarelles in Holland. At that time watercolor in our country was only used as a preparation for oil paintings. But I've heard that watercolor finally has a place now among the mediums there.
Fascinating rock formation, I see why you were inspired to paint it. Lovely colors in the white rock area of your painting.
Thanks, Diane,
Long time ago I visited Arizona when I had not returned to painting yet, but I heard that your state has some awesome rock formations too!
