To start off the New Year, I need a break.
I saw you smiling, thinking, already?
Yes, I need to start with a break so this year will truly be a happy year.
Corona del Mar beach
Another thing to start off is: no resolutions!
Why not? I am driven enough, I have been told many times.
I seem to make up my goals anyway in the midst of my daily meanderings.
So, instead of being driven, I think I'll ENJOY by going more
often to the ocean. Sorry, that several of you are snowed in! But yesterday
we had the air conditioning on in the car. This beach is about 20 min.
away from my house. I could play, make drawings in the sand,
or build sand castles. I could look for shells or drift wood.

When I look at the horizon of the ocean
I see only a thin line between the blues of land and water.
Do you hear the crashing of the waves? Its sound is so calming.
Breathe deeply, and you'll smell the salt in the air.
If you click to enlarge the pic you see wedding photography going on!
Another way of being enjoyment (for me) is just taking things in
without immediately analyzing and assessing the situation.

That will be a hard one to hold on to.
Watching water currents, how foamy water wraps itself
around the rocks somehow rearranges my priorities.
How quickly I forget what is really important
when I'm in a frenzied "work mode!"
But I'll keep reminding myself this year
to play first, and stock up on creativity.
Then work will go smoother.

No resolutions is the way I go too. Happy 2010 to you, Jeannette.
Beautiful beach pictures. I don't do resolutions either, but I totally agree with the notion to "play first!"
Wishing you a Happy New Year! You have left some nice comments on my blog, some that also made me think. Now that I'm feeling better I will try to get back to you on a couple of those this week. Resolutions or not I think it's important to make goals, maybe not necessarily at the New Year. Anyway here's to a happy 2010.
Angie,
You have much wisdom for a younger person!
Oh yes, let's relax and enjoy life every day of this year! Bravo!
Diane,
playing first seems to come easier with age -I don't know if I could have said the 10 years ago:)
Midwest
Thank you!glad you're feeling better! yes, we can't do without goals:)
Chrisy,
after writing the post, I thought WHY didn't I do that last year??
Looks wonderful, and very far far away from the snow and ice I'm surrounded by...
What lovely pictures and that beach is just what I needed to see because we are shivering here with temps going down in the teens at night. I love the ocean and the beach, thanks for sharing these lovely pics Jeannette! I hope you had a Happy New Year!
Monika,
feel for you -hope your house is warm! In the more Northern countries, winter is truly a time of hibernation:)
Lynette,
You're welcome! Ugh, that sounds cold -hope you have enough blankets! Isn't it funny -how we miss the sun when she's not there?
We have the beaches nearby, we just don't have the cliffs and the rocks which are so much more dramatic. Beautiful start to the New Year I would say.
Paula,
Thank you Paula. Beginning is not hard -hope I/we can keep it up:)
You know you are welcome to come visit any of The Muse's places.
Whether you want poetry, word games, of semi daily motivations...
I'll even offer a cup of tea :)
The Muse,
Thank you -I've been scaling back lately on visiting blogs, because of Christmas preparations. Also, sometimes out of the blue, I have a creative spurt, and my blog schedule goes out of the window LOL!
Looks like a beautiful spot.
Matthew,
Yes it is -often when we drive by, I see painters painting this spot.
