THIS VACATION

On one day outings, I often do the mindless stuff that does not require my utmost attention and focus.
So that means ... shopping.... in Solvang. "Someone" caught me, the sneaky guy. I know I'll get a comment from one of you that shopping is not by any means mindless, and it requires the utmost brain power. Okay, I give in...

Or, going to a coffee shop to cool off from 96 degr. F. and choosing one of the many, many desserts in a Danish bakery. That took extra effort!  Sorry, I already took some bites of my most delicious cream puff. But you could have a bite of the scrumptious Black Forest cake behind it:)

But not for next week's vacation. I'm not for one to lay on the beach for a week. After one day I would be extremely bored.
This week is my time to recover some skills I may have lost this past year, because of other projects.  I pledge to put more of my mind and soul into it  than a cream puff...

What do you say, maybe a brush up on this waterfall?

I agree with you on shopping and on vacations -- I'm not one to lie around on the beach either. But I don't get as much accomplished (creatively) as you do when I'm not lying on the beach ;>)

Happy vacation!

I don't know - the shopping and the pastries look very good too. I could happily spend some days doing that. But I know your love lies with painting, so I guess that's what you really will be doing and that's what will make you happy. Have a very good time doing that and enjoy nature all around you.

I agree with you about holidays, as I too, get bored easily.

LOVE that easel hubby made!

Our vacations for 41 years were from Texas to NC & SC to see relatives.

This year we are going to Rapid City SD for a Moroccan Reunion. We lived in Morocco while in military. And this has 4 days of tours, not use a boozing and eating binge. We are going. I hope the elevation does not affect my heath and lung problems. Walking is supposedly kept to a minimum.

I find it difficult to comment because I can't get my mind off that cream puff!

I don't know if shopping is mindless or not, but I do know that entering an experience with gratitude and love can transform that experience.

Yes, and I want to make most of the opportunities I've been given!

Irene,
You've figured me out, Irene!Once a while I like the shopping and pastries once in a while, but I love painting more:)

Jane (G),
Thinking about your wild adventures of the past, I can't see you laying on the beach:)

Nitwit1,
Have a grand time in Morocco! I love their clothes and art.

Weaver,
Well, get your husband to go to a bakery where they have 'em! and enjoy!

JM,
Knowing you love nature, the waterfall would be your choice (to climb too?)

Andrea,
Glad you're back and hope things are okay with you! It's in my blood to be concerned about people (see sidebar - smile)

Duta,
Desserts are my weakness (maybe it's something European, eh? Gotto blame it on "something"L) )
Thank you, I'll pass it on to hubby!

Liz,
Thank you, and I'm going to look at yours!

Steffi,
Thank you friend, and I'll enjoy it, for sure!

Betsy,
Oh, yes, I've seen pockets emptier and emptier around me, so I am grateful!

Haven't been away for a proper vacation for years now. While I'm not the beach kind of person, I'm nowdays also not fit for much travelling or full days of activities. This year again it turned out "just as well" I hadn't planned much. My father died... So most of the travelling this summer will be back and forth to his old place and a bit of time-travelling among memories.

Dawn,
Oh that's why I haven't seen you much lately here. So sorry Dawn. That must be a big adjustment! Take care:)

Ladyfi,
Hi Fiona, the waterfalls will have abundant water this year, for a month ago they couldn't even camp yet in the meadow - too much snow!

Spectacular waterfall and equally spectacular cream puff:) Like you I'm not one for lying on the beach for too long unless I have a good book - I love walking along them though and gazing at the sea:)
