THE MERRIEST FEAST OF THE YEAR

For Mellow Yellow Monday   For Ruby Tuesday  For Alphabe

To me Christmas ia a blend of  serious and happy celebrations,
A mingling of spices and fragrances
of giving and receiving
but most of all being together with the ones you love.

Please, don't be alone on Christmas!

One of my favorite decorations (for the window) are three
wooden marionettes.

What is your favorite Christmas ornament?

Poinsettia
pointing to reach a star
where redemption
was so humbly born
lively colored leaves
fade in the background
graciously making room
for shiny scattered gifts
in this towering tree

With eyes of dreams I gaze
which one, which one?
stretching to reach mine
sparkling reflections
with promises of a life time.

Merry Christmas to All

As long as I have my husband and dog I am not alone. And we are sharing our dinner with plates for friends.

My health will not tolerate the stress of a large gathering anymore.

However, we have created the Spirit of Christmas by giving outside our close circle, all year.

Merry Christmas to you and yours and Happy New Year, too.

Your few words have captured the essence of Christmas.

Your poinsettia painting is so soft and delicate. Not how I usually see a poinsettia.

These are so pretty, loved them :-) Dropping some love for MYM, hope that you can return the favor too.

What a whimsical ornament!

RED HAT

Red hat, I am lonesome.
Red hat, are you free?
Red hat, please consider
Coming home with me.

I need a companion,
One who’ll warm my head;
I think you’ll do nicely,
Hat of brilliant red.

You’re the warmest color,
Not like blue or green—
Red hat at the vendor’s,
Red hat, you’re my queen.

If you go to my blog and look in the right sidebar, you will see a Christmas decoration I made over 40 years ago. The boys are still looking pretty good!!

Your photos are wonderful!!!

I love the marionette, we have a few that are Santa Claus and one that is a woman. My favorite ornament? It's a tiny plastic manger scene that you can put a light through to brighten it up on the tree. Merry Christmas!

You've definitely given me that old Christmas feeling!

Love your plein air set-up. I am teaching a plein air class at Toscana Gallery beginning the middle of January. There is a desert area behind the studio, and my class is called "Expect the Unexpected." I will place an object that one would not expect to see in the desert, and the students must find it and paint it in its surroundings!!

I beg your forgiveness for my cutting and pasting my comment, but there was no way on Earth I would be able to make it around the whole globe to wish everybody a Merry Christmas otherwise.

The magical elves that constitute my staff have demonstrated their lack of respect in either not showing up for work at all, or those that have all seem a little worse for wear (if you catch my drift). All they seem to do is sit around smoking cigarettes that, frankly, smell funny. In addition, they play cards and tell dirty jokes rather than do their jobs! Consequently, the reindeer are all filthy and out of shape.

I now have my two sons pulling the sleigh, but they are struggling. I’ve been told that it’s a big ask for a three and five year old, but I made it this far with a couple of mangy chooks, an arthritic wallaby and three peculiar wombats! Unfortunately, we lost all bar one wombat over Mumbai (and the sole survivor is exhibiting clear signs of PTSD).

Anyway, all the way down here at the bottom of the world (A.K.A. Tasmania), and from myself, Jen, Henry and Ezra, please have a Merry Christmas/Winter Solstice/Hanukkah/Festivus/Ashura and a happy New Year!

I hope that all of your holiday photos turn out to be triumphs, your stocking is stuffed full of lots of tasty treats and not coal and that all your naan/ prawn cocktails/ currywurst are all as tasty as can be!

Nitwit,
Wholeheartedly agree, Christmas is about giving!

Stephanie,
As you have following my blog regularly, you know I'm going for the more unusual interpretation -am happy that you caught the one of my Poinsettia tree - have a wonderful celebration!

WifetoaLineman,
Thank you friend and I'll see you in two weeks on MYM!

Jenny,
Wish I could write like you - maybe when I've had 10 more English courses! Have a wonderful celebration!

Teacher,
I like that you adress the "hat" instead of the person:) Have a wonderful Christmas!

Irene,
That you may have a wonderful get together with the ones you love!

Judy,
Thanks for both comments. I'll have to peruse your blog some more:) Like your assignment about painting the unexpected object - forces one to go out of the box!

Kathy,
You have an unusual double name...is the first one German and the second one English, or?
When I bought the clowns, I'd wish now that I had bought more of the same series, because now I don't see them around.

Sue,
Thank you, I hope they're pleasant feelings:) Have the best Christmas ever!

Kris,
I've read your comment on my other blog, so now I'm getting very curious what mangy chooks, wallaby, and wombats are! Hope I won't dream about it, lol!

Love the marionette. My heart goes out to those who find themselves feeling lonely on Christmas...and it's not always those who ARE alone. Sad. Hope your Christmas is wonderful!
