FATHER OF THE BRIDE

A wedding in July at a lake.
The bridegroom hired me as an artist two months before
to paint "something" for their wedding.

A wedding at the lake on a blazing hot day.
You can imagine what that does to a cake with lots of frosting:)

Before the cake was served the painting was presented. Sorry no good pics of that.

Most of the work was gathering clues about what was important to them.
He had been compared to an untamed horse.
His fiancee chimed in that the movie "The Black Stallion" was one of her favorite childhood movies.

The bride-to-be was very frustrated in high school when one year all of her attempts to go to the prom were thwarted. As a last minute resort had borrowed a beautiful white dress with several layers of tulle from a friend.

The mother, raised abroad, not knowing what a prom meant to here daughter, found out in a dream how significant the prom was.
She had a dream her daughter was sitting in a most gorgeous white embroidered dress at a table with many guests. The setting was heaven.

The host was standing at the head of the table. A guest came in, went straight to the daughter, hugged her, saying that if it not had been for her, "she would not have made it here."
Guests kept coming in, one after another, saying similar things.

My  impression was that they were adventurous, artistic, and both liked helping people.
They did not seem like a traditional pose to represent their marriage.
I studied a couple of horse movies to get some more inspiration.
A nocturnal setting and a peek of the river of life, since their life's goals seemed still to be enshrouded in mystery.

The big moment: of the bride's entrance with her father
you would think this moment is not as significant on the beach by the lake,
but I saw several people crying.

On the wedding day itself, everything the painting represented was cast in a romantic light,
but I knew that I had given the couple a keepsake.

I would treasure the thought and imagination that you have put into such a wedding memoir. It doesn't matter where the wedding is, I still cry. The hope and love are always there.

Joyful,
Never thought of that opportunity till this bridegroom asked me:)

Violetsky,
They're both artistic, so a traditional wedding pic wouldn't fit them!

Gary,
Thank you! It was a great opportunity.

Betsy,
Isn't it interesting how things culturally develop? Music is so common at a reception, but not painting!

Carol,
Thank you! Anything to stay away from cliche:)

LV,
Thank you, Friend! It was all worth it:)

Ruth,
Thank you for your kind comment, and also for visiting here! Have a great week!

Marilou,
Thank you, Friend! That I have memories at all reveals my age:):)

Stephanie,
Thank you! Am still old fashioned in the belief that a wedding is a once in a life time thing!

Sallie,
I was lucky too, to have this opportunity!

Gemma,
Thanks, Gemma! As a teacher you probably know that artistic people think differently about things;)

Liz,
Thanks so much, glad you like them! You have a great week too:)

Shantana,
Thank you for visiting here! How's life after Switzerland?

Fiona,
Thank you Friend! Have a great vacation time! Jesh StG

How awesome that you, as an artist, could do a painting for the bride & groom. I'm sure they'll treasure it forever! By the way, I love her dress.

The combination of art from the brush, and art of the heart..Love!!

The painting is interesting after reading the background of the Black Stallion.

Our daughter was married at a lake, and was rowed in a canoe to the place of the ceremony. Very unique how weddings can be. So personal. Nice photography too.

What a grand day!

We were married on a boat on the ocean and it was quite an experience. I've seen many wedding parties taking photos by the water and it truly is an amazing sight.

Hi there - nice pictures and paintings.

We got married in the outside in the dusk of evening - I think the poor old photographer almost died when she found out about the lack of light!!
