JANUARY WALK

* Walking in the Huntington Library (Gardens) started in 1919 by a wealthy business man and railroad company and other real estate holdings in CA, named Henry E. Huntington.

In a lane full of Camelia trees,
here one in early bloom
my second favorite flower

also the most extensive rose garden
with a tea room and cafe,
A Japanese, and Chinese garden with a small restaurant,
an Australian, Palm, and Jungle garden, etc.

One of my favorite places to take pics.
Today hubby tried out his new Rebel T4i
you understand, since his camera has 18 megapixels,
and I only 8, he has to share it:):)

 two rows of statues
this one playing the banjo (?)

January is the month of our anniversary
there was a lot of music
in our marriage

These ducks make me smile
two ducks but each so very different

the gardens close at 4:30 pm, and since we came at 1:30,
we weren't done yet!

the desert gardens are phenomenal
seem to be always filled with flowers

low light and long shadows made this corner
with rocks almost an unnatural white
and the bottom of the water so green
more challenging,
since I like to stick with
colors true to the scene.

Can't wait to go there again!

This is what I call a quiet demure sunset
ending a perfect day
tip toeing into the night

I like the complex pattern of the lines and the colour scheme of muted green against orange. Beautiful! Thank you for sharing it on Mandarin Orange Monday:)

Great attention to detail in that statue! The folds of the garments is fascinating! And I'm not really sure what the statue is playing! Intriguing!

Liz,Tthank you -have a wonderful week!

Chubskulit,
Thank you and also for visiting!

Stephanie, Thank you! capturing the boat was a joint venture. I saw it, but needed hubby's height to get more of a top view:)

Brite Mist,
Thanks for stopping by here -I believe it was in the 60ties.

Eileen,
Oh you're asking the wrong person. I only know roses and camellias:):)

Gary,
Thanks so much, friend! Have a great week.

Jim,
thanks so much, and also for coming by!

Carol,
Thank you! When beautiful things are in front of me, all I have to do is click, click:)

Lorik,
I KNOW you would transform this pic for your meme, but I was in a hurry:)

Pierre,
Romantic it is, Pierre! Thanks for visiting me:)

Fun60,
I don't think I've ever heard a lyre, so I must google to see the difference with a banjo.

Monika (Nature),
They have little and big ponds featuring waterlilies.

Gemma,
Love these kind of sculptures, whimsical, but still with lots of skill sculpted!

Leslie,
I am stunned by the sharpness - now my photos look almost blurry!

Roger,
Me too, I love these kinds of sculptures -fit so well with the flowers!

Bettyl,
Thank you! They don't have many ducks at the Huntington:)

The Red Hot Pokers are gorgeous--they stand out so beautifully. What would gardens be without sculpture.

You had me at "a lane full of Camelia trees." Oh, get out! That sounds too paradisical to contemplate from the depths of winter! :-) What a gorgeous bloom. Is it as fragrant as it is beautiful?

I got a Rebel T4i for my birthday earlier this month. Is your husband as overwhelmed by his as I am by mine??? So much to learn! But what a great camera. Yeah, he totally needs to share. :-)

I as thinking the statue is playing a mandolin. Lyre never occurred to me. I could be mistaken, but I always thought a lyre was larger and had a 90º bend at the top of the fret thingy (don't assume I know what I'm talking about, lol). Now I'm curious which it might be - or none of the above! Whatever it is, I love that statue! How fun would that be serenading you in your garden every day.

I love the ducks, of course, and the beautiful flowers and tranquil water - that last photo makes me want to stick my fingers in that water to feel how warm it is. I love the green color - nice job capturing it!

Happy Anniversary! :-)

I really appreciate your style of photography--so clean and attentive to unexpected details. Have always heard of this garden but never visited. Another plus of blogging with photographers--we get to see places we may never see in our time.

All your photos are speacial, but my favorite is your sunset.
