I would probably not BBQ an octopus, like we saw in Athens, Greece one time, but there are plenty of other possibilities. Hubby is extremely good in chicken, one son-in-law grills a mean steak, and the other juicy veggies.
What I also love to do in summer is to sit on a patio, sip on an iced drink and let the world go by. That favorite pastime probably stems from my European roots.
This one is at Borders bookstore, but a restaurant is another great possibility!
Can't let summer go by without some MORE plein air painting!
Today I see that I have to get used to the idea that Fall is pushing forward and banging on my door. I see not only green, but also yellow leaves when I look out of my kitchen window.
Why don't I ignore Fall for a little while
till I have said my proper goodbye's...
how are you feeling about it?

There are so many wonderful things to do in summer, sitting in the open air with a good book is one of my favourite pass-times :)
Believe it or not, I'm really going to enjoy September, which is already a fall month, but a gentle one at that. We had a mixed up summer weather wise and I'm looking forward to the weather that September will bring. I just hope it will last a long time and not get so cold awfully quickly. It's also my birthday month, so I enjoy it extra much.
Well actually, I got to wear a hand knit sweater and wool socks today. I like the change in weather, but I'm not looking forward to winter. Summer here was great, but hot for weeks on end. It's OK that it's leaving for awhile.
I thought California was (more or less) summer all year round?
This year I feel July and August pretty much passed me by because there was so little time to really "relax". Hoping for a sunny September.
I like the idea of sitting out and watching the world go by! Yes, fall is on its way!
September and October are my favorite months. I really enjoy this time of year.
That's a wonderful photo of you on the patio...!
Sam,
yes -that would be a great choice (in my humble opinion). Forgot to tell you that I liked you with the pipe:)
Irene,
Hope for you that the rain and cold will stay away in Sept. Hey, I noticed that you're seemingly doing "better" lately? Or, does it have to do with the titration of your meds?
Rudee,
Oh my, glad I don't have to wear socks yet - wish I could wear more sweaters here (an excuse to buy or knit more sweaters too:) ) but it's most of the time too hot for that.
Monika,
Usually, with the emphasis on the first word, it's summer almost all year, but this year we got our share of rain (for the first time in many years this state did not have to buy water from other states!) and cooler weather - on average 10 degrees F. less. I really noticed it, because now I live 20 min from the coast, and temps are definitely cooler than where I used to live (more inland).
EGWow,
Sadly, Fall is too close...but who knows some of the Falls in CA is like a hot summer till even right before Christmas:)
Jo,
I can imagine - the winters in Canada would be too severe for my taste (especially after 20+ years in California:).
Thank you, I look my best with a coffee drink in my hand:)
Lovely series of photos, Jeannette. I'm ready for some cooler weather, so fall sounds pretty good right about now.
Like you I still want to sit outside drinking coffee and watching the world go by. I'm always sad at the end of summer - even more so whenthere hasn't really been a great summer but September can be wonderful and there are many delights ahead to enjoy:)
Thanks for your glimp of summer and the octopus. I think I'll prefer your son-in-law's chicken!
Thanks for your visit! Your header is stunning!
Pam,
Thank you! Guess it was hotter this summer in Florida than it was in California (and more humid too, of course:) )
Rosie,
We seem to have something in common about the end of summer:) For the life of me, can't recollect what happened last year Sept. -probably because I just had moved and our house had not sold yet. Maybe I should journal in Sept. for posterity LOL
Reader Wil,
You are welcome, Wil. Yes, I'm with you about the chicken:)
A flower always makes a good pic (smile).
We ae more than ready for Autumn here. Summuer murdered some of my tender plants I paid dearly to replace te ice storm disaster.
Summer seemed to intensify our feeling of being old.
A cool day for a walk without palpitations is a wish that might just happen today, since it is 64.
Just went to your blog to see what's going on with you -I saw: a lot!
Hope you get rid of those palpitations somehow! (whether it's by pharmaceutical meds or other good means!)
take life easy!
BOnjour de tres belles photos sur votre blog merci

Since there is art on your blog, please look at Art Notes (click on photo on top -on right sidebar)
Jeannette: My wife would die if she saw an octopus on the grill.
Tom,
don't let her go to these countries where they eat ants, or frogs! I heard that frogs tastes a little like chicken!
The best in those cases is to know AFTERWARDS what one has eaten!
