The industry of youth is captured perfectly here. I love that you're keeping the secret of the broken fence between you, him and the fencepost.
Lovely post, Jeanette. All kids should be able to experience gentle adventures like this. Lucky little boy.
Maybe because I grew up in the country, this is my memory of childhood. The sepia tint takes me back to those old photos of my parents as children.
I very much like the top photo in sepia! All the photos are appealing, actually!
What evocative sepia photos - they are wonderful. And the fence photos ... I just had to smile.
The sepia is perfect!
I love the reflection shot - nice composition!
Your little one is precious!!!!
Such a handsome boy - and he and his grandmother need to have their own little secrets!
Rudee,
I remember some of my aunts and uncles keeping some secrets from my parents:)
Stephanie,
Almost all of of my adulthood I lived in big cities, but my childhood in a village, and I may romanticize it now a bit!
EG wow,
I'm satisfied with how the clouds came out -thanks!
Clytie,
Thank you, friend! Now I don't have to discipline anymore, I can see the naughty side of kids with a smile")
Carletta,
Thank you, sepia friend for all three!
Paula,
You got it, girl:) Of course I may bring it up later if I need some leverage with this little boy:):)
That first photo is just wonderful Jeannette... hope that adorable little boy got to spend more time with mom and dad.
Lovely photos and family. I like the reflections, both way.
Have a great weekend!
Love your shots!! Happy weekend!
Orchid reflection
This is a sweet photo story series, Jeanette. I particularly like the top sepia photo. Nice!
I love the photo of the little boy behind the mirror. What a sweet post.
The fence story and pictures put a smile on my face, thank you :-)
Love the sepia tones! And the cloud reflection is just as beautiful as the outdoors!
Jane (G),
I believe he's getting more attention from his mom and dad now the grandparents are gone LOL
Maia T,
Thank you! Have been in Rumania a long time ago (begin. 80ties) - so thankful that your country is free now!
Manang Kim
Thank you! You look so different in this profile pic! I was serious about advice for the orchids!
Francesca,
Saw you're located in the Philipines - are you American?
Actually am a painter who just takes pics - so thank you for the compliment:)
Loree,
Malta was one of the Mediterranean islands my brother and wife took a vacation! When you are dreamer like you say, it's the right place to live!
BTW the little boy looks out of the window.
Woody,
Glad it was pleasant! Most stories are about little girls, so I thought to do one about a little boy:) He's a crack up!
Ebie,
Thank you! - and this is in California!
I love the one with him in the window :)
H Jeanette, yes, I am based in the Philippines, and no, I am not American. But there is no one word answer, so I have a page on "where is home" over at my blog [http://viewthrumygloballens.blogspot.com/p/about-me.html] :-D
And hello again... thanks for the visit. Even though they have not crossed before now, we seem to have covered a lot of the same paths! Your family may have known mine in Indonesia. I have worked in China since '85 and have an apartment (2nd home)in Shenzhen. Hope your son likes it there, because it's not an easy place to live, but hugely interesting. :-)
Hello jeanette. Thanks for your comments on my blog. I posted a few shots of the gardnes in the last few weeks and more last year. If you click on my 'Botanic Gardens' tag on those posts or the link in the column on the right, you should be able to see all of them.
Hello Jeanette, thanks for dropping by at my site, I do appreciate it very much. About the orchids, it's easy for them to take care, the number one thing NOT to do, is over-water, because our orchids are already in a pot. Tt doesn't matter if they are attach to a tree (as we do it in the Philippines) but in a pot the roots will rot. So the best thing to do is to put two ice cubes at least every two weeks. Then let it stand at your window and if it's too hot give them a little shade. What I did this Summer I didn't let them expose to sunlight, but in Fall, Winter and Spring I put them at the window, because the sun is not that hot. I haven't put any plant food just ice cubes. And here is my other secret "talk to them" kind of weird but I do. I talk to them how I appreciate the buds that coming out, how beautiful are the blooms ^_^.
1. ice cube
2. sunlight
3. talk them
Yup that's it, would love to know soon when your orchid is growing good. Happy weekend!
Love the sepia shot and the tale of the fence.
Francesca,
How serendipitous! Hope we'll meet sometime:)
Three years ago we visited our son Daniel and traveled with him to Beijing, Guang Zhou and Shenzhen. I remember that it was even more modern than the capital and prices were considerably higher than the rest of the country. He has 2 friends there who help him with looking for a job (teaching English).
Yes, I had the same impression from him, that it was an interesting city!
JBar,
Thank you for "directions":) I'll certainly will visit them soon!
Louis la Vache,
Even though I have lived in the LA area for more than 20 years, I still haven't visited San Francisco. Like people who live at the beach almost never go to the beach LOL!
Manang Kim,
A huge thank you! No wonder they were all dieing. I did all the wrong things! Had no idea the roots were rotting away! I heard about the "talking to them" helps:) Like any living thing it needs some love to stay alive, I quess. Thank you again!
Gerald,
Thank you -I'm glad you like it!
Very nice shots! My favorites are the boy at the windo and the one below it.
So glad he could help his dad!
James,
Thanks! Since you lived in this state: can you believe it, this is "rural" Sacramento!
Rebecca,
Since you have a son you know how these things happen -LOL!
I like the first picture because it looks really old and makes me think about the time when I was a kid.
Thanks for visiting, it's not cold yet here but we've got a lot of rain and not much sunshine the last few months. I guess the weather is much better there.
Bye
What a lovely sequence of photos! The top one is especially good.
Dick,
Sorry for getting back so late! Hope that they were good childhood memories:) That pic looks "old" because I have photoshop:)
Michael,
Thank you! sometimes we are there with a camera at the right time:)
