FROM WEST TO EAST COAST & midweek BLUES & weekendREFLECTIONS

This week I have less time for the computer because I just started a new venture. So scroll down to the end of the post to get West as well as East coast in:)

We live 1 1/2 hours North from the Harbor in San Diego on the West Coast of the USA. A place with many things to see, just to stroll and relax, go to a coffee place, walk some more and go to a restaurant after it's dark.

18 x 24,Watercolor, St.Germain
the copyright & signature is tiny, but it's in there:)

This is just a tiny corner of the harbor, where I did this watercolor, and I am posting it for Midweek Blues  hosted by Rebecca   http://thedustycellar.blogspot.com

and 2seetnsaxy hosting Watery Wednesday at http://waterywednesday.blogspot.com

and for Weekend Reflections hosted by James.

Last year we had a few hours to spare in the morning till we had to go to the airport in Tampa, Florida on the East coast of the US. We had seen nothing of the surroundings yet, since we had come for a conference. Except for the sudden turn in weather in the afternoons with heavy winds and rain, and lots of lightning and thunder, and tornado warnings. Kinda unsettling for this to be the heart of summer!

We choose to go to the Cuban quarter.
On Main Street...It was hot, hot, hot. Soon we were looking
for a place to drink something.

Around the corner, I did a double take.Whoa, he's not real!

At last we found a creperie. One of my favorite foods
and they did not disappoint me! A little place, but very accommodating.
The little loft with the bike is endearing.

Love the colours!
and photos, of course.
Long time since I was in San Diego (2003), liked it a lot, even if it was on a hard working conference :-D
Can't understand how You manage to work in that climate. lol

The watercolor is beautiful! You certainly captured the feel of a harbor waiting for the activity to begin. Love it.

That's a lovely watercolour, Jeannette. And I love that sculpture, too! :)

Very pretty watercolor 'on the dock' picture, Jeannette. The hills across the lake or inlet are soooooo inviting from this peer.
I also liked your blog theme, from west to east coasts.
..
Guess I could do similarly, south to north, as I'm going from the South Coast (Gulf Coast here) to the Midwest (Iowa and Nebraska) soon. It wouldn't be nice like yours though. And would have no pretty watercolor either.

Anna-Lys,
when you live here, even the nice weather becomes "normal":) but I'm cold in most other places!!

Rebecca,
A harbor has such a special atmosphere, and harbor cities as well:)

Monika,
This sculpture I noticed because of the place where he stood!
Not many Dutch painters have blue as a favorite color...

Jim,
Go ahead, I wouldn't see it as plagiarism if you called a post from North to South:) I'm surprized you didn't see any painters in Sedona (because you were talking about a watercolor in your post) -it's one of the havens for artists.

Ebie,
Still green of envy of your last trip!! Thank you, friend:)

Cristie,
Was at your blog for your midweek blue -brilliant colors! Wanted to comment, but didn't see your comment box -or did you turn it off?
Thanks for the invite!

Dianne,
You probably have a talent too, I only don't know what it is yet. Do you know?

Carolyn,
Yeah, the little boats is what attracted me to do the watercolor!

Weaver,
Yes, you guessed it right:) Thanks, for us amateurs it's always a toss up if our pics will turn out or not, LOL.

EG Wow,
I trade you for your photographic abilities:)

Ewok,

I think I came to your blog by accident, but now I see that Pat Tillett you make a comment on this entry. Pat and I will make comments and yours may have come through it. When you open your blog I loved the watercolor of boats in this range of exquisite blue. Now I find I have another blog full of art, fine. A greeting.

Carletta,
Somehow it doesn't surprise me that blue is your favorite! Looking at your profile pic you look too young to be retired...

Carolina,
I didn't find to expect this kind of creperie in a big city!

Randy,
Thank you! Looking at your blog, I didn't think you would be in banking:)

Leovi,
Am glad that you found my blog! It's clear you like abstract -you have a great artistic eye!

Southern Sass,
Thank you!The colors you choose in your photos make it easily recognizable that you're the photographer

Jane (M),
Thank you! I saw Iowas' Pork on your side bar and I smiled (guess you're cooking that often?)

Rudee,
Thanks! Blue never tires me -it's almost a neutral color for me (in my paintings).

Dcolours,
You're welcome -you have an interesting blog!

Hi Jeannette! I also love that clour blue! Thanks for the tour!
You asked if Queen Beatrix had to study law. Well, it stands to reason that our royals always study law or history or any other subject that 's important for future heads of state.

Fantastic watercolour.

Quimper = in Brittany, France = birthplace of la crêpe. I'm kinda difficult as far as they go :-) and have never, ever seen one that I want to eat in the USA. Maybe someday!

I share your love of blue, but not your talent for painting. Happy to admire your watercolour... it's just lovely. Statues and crepes are good, too! :-)

Thank you so much -I'm glad you like it! A bientot!

Woody,
Thank you!, but where is your blog, Woody? I only see an ad...?

Cieldequimper,

So is the meaning "sky of Bretagne? American pancakes are different than European ones, so the same is with crepes. Don't know if you know that I am from Holland?

Francesca,
Thanks! Can say the same about your talent of photography:)
Now I wonder why I only took so few pics in Florida.

Leia,
Thank you Friend! With being positive, one can reach so much more than being negative!

Genie,
Thank you, Genie! Have a great weekend in San Diego! Hope you visit "seaport Village" an area with cute little shops and a friendly coffee place "Upstart Crow" and many food places.

Elizabeth,
Thank you for visiting my blog:) Glad you like the watercolor. I'm sure you have a talent too!

Greyscale,
You are so kind -you know how to make compliments!

Evelyn,
Thank you! Where my daughters live, I frequently visit a creperie that makes a whole meal (with vegetables inside) out of the crepe:)

Cildemer,
Thank you! Painting seems a 2-way street. It brings me joy to paint it, and for others to look at it:) Hope you enjoy your weekend as well!

Tsuki,
Thanks! I thought a reflection can also be a painted one:) Having seen your blog, is English or French your first language? (I am Dutch, but lived for 20+ years in Los Angeles).

Dave,
Thanks for visiting. Saw your blog and you're a very talented photographer! Did I understand it correctly - you haven't done it that long?

I like this blue watercolor. I would like to be able to paint as too.

A crêperie ?
I do always "galettes & crêpes" when I have guests at home !

If, one day, you come in Brittany …

Jeannette StG said...

Dutchbaby,
Thank you! - yes, composition helps a great deal:)

Sarah,
Thank you - my secret is "practice":)
What is "galettes"?
If I come one day to Brittany (Bretagne?), I'll knock on your door for some crepes:)
