One rule in painting is that the water reflects the sky.
California is known for it's stark blue skies
(Bridal Veil Falls, CA)
(Bridal Veil Falls, CA)
Corona del Mar, CA
So it would follow that we would have stark blue waters, and ocean. Well...not quite, but if I squint may be I can see enough blue in there!
By the way, would you like to see this when looking out of your window?
This pic was taken from the deck of our friends.

Many beautiful places to see in California.
I was in CDM yesterday, it's not too far from my house...
Very beautiful, indeed!
Have a beautiful week as well :-)
We went to Yosemite in the winter time. Spring or summer would be our next target.
I bet the ocean water is cool this time.
Great photos! I would love that view from my deck. The falls are gorgeous.
Great pictures! Stunning! It's really hard for me to pick my favorite... can I like them both equally?
Schön, schön, schön indeed. Thank you for this journey. Please have a good Wednesday.
daily athens
These are so lovely Jeanette!
P.S. Thank you for visiting with me today. I had to chuckle b/c my hubby is actually Neil, tho. :o)
Yes, so schon.
I am always in love with water falls they are always gorgeous!
The Lake
Patrick,
Oh, didn't know you were Californian:) Hope the rains will stop soon!
AnnaLys,
Thank you, Friend! What's the 2nd (most common) language in Sweden? English? Then blogging would be great practice!
Ebie,
A very different atmosphere in the Spring -much friendlier!
(because we were there driving through a few winters)
Carol,
Oh yes, me too! Thanks for visiting!
Christie,
Thank you! Don't worry -you don't have to choose! Have a great week:)
Daily Athens,
So is your city -have been there in '97 for a 10 day vacation, and never to forget!
Dina,
Oops... Well, he's an adult then:)! Glad I brightened up your day with my "oops"!
Rainfield,
When you look really close in the 2nd pic on the right, you see some birds too:)
Kim,
I lvoe them because in Holland where I'm originally from, the land is so flat that there are no waterfalls (except for some man-made ones).
Have not been out west yet - looks so amazing.
so beautiful. I really would like to wake up to this every morning.:)
I am always amazed at how much the colour of the same body of water can change in different conditions.
Oh my goodness, talk about having a view out of this world.;)) Definitely *sehr schön*.;))
xoxo
The ocean water looks very lovely and I miss the ocean, living so far from the sea. I miss the sound of the waves and the smell of the water.
your friends have a wonderful view
I love the light in your shots :)
Both shots are beautiful. Yes, it would be glorious to view that from a deck.
Lucky friends and lucky you to have friends with such a view.
I like your blue water picture. Not that the sky above the waterfall is a slouch!
I passed within 30 miles of St. Germain, Missouri, last night on my way from Texas to Eastern Iowa.
St. Germain is below Hanibal, Missouri, on the Missouri River. I am sure that Mark Twain spent a lot of his time there writing. It seems to be an inspiration for writing, being a very small, nice and quaint, town.
One time we stayed at an old hotel in St. Germain. St. Germain was settled by Germans who didn't like the New Orleans (people) environment.
..
Thanks for stopping by my blog, Jeanette. What stunning images! Love them.
I always notice the color of skies and waters in pictures. It never ceases to amaze me.
BTW, the flowers in your header are magnificient, and I like it that you , now and then, make some change in your blog's layout.
Great shots! Love the lace of foam around the rocks!
Lucky you to have such nice friends;o)

Have a happy Wednesday*******
Beautiful falls and I love the ocean with the rocks. We do not have "rocky" beaches or cliffs here. I would like to be able to look out and see mountains from my window. One day maybe! :)
Carolina,
Same with me, I haven't been in many states yet (you don't get very far when you have your nose in the books all the time, like I do:) )
A Lady's Life,
So would I! But then, on 2nd thought, I might never get any work done LOL!
Leslie,
Ain't that the truth! All has to do with with the sky or what's above the water:)
Zuzanna,
If living costs were not so high here, maybe even more people would flock to California:)
Irene,
Yes, I remember when we lived in Gelderland, the ocean seemed far away. Exept for a total of 10 years, I've always lived close to the sea. There's something very soothing about hearing the waves crash:)
Dianne,
Yes, I feel lucky! Most of the year it's light like that, because the sun is shining.
Dutchbaby,
Thank you! Have you bought a glass pumpkin? I wouldn't able to resist that temptation!
Rebecca,
Most people would envy our friends, because it's not only the view!! But they're very down to earth:)
Jim,
Thank you! Had no idea that Missouri had a St.Germain (because I/we did my/our undergrad work in Springfield). It's kind of confusing -my ancestors came definitely from France (close to Paris, so not close to the German border either).
Wild Thyme Knits,
Do I understand from reading your last blog posts that you lived in Europe? We always try to hide the fact that we have more than one car, because my friends and relatives just don't understand!
Duta,
Thank you, Duta! Yes, it boggles my mind sometimes -and I don't even know anything about the scientific part of nature!
Cildemer,
Thank you, friend! The pics remind me that I shouldn't take for granted who my friends are and where I live!
Southeren Sass,
Since this is a close up you can't see that a little further is the (sandy and flat) beach. The rocks make for a better pic LOL!
Hope you will get to have your mountain view some day!
nice photos. greetings
Yes, those sky and water colors are so beautiful! What a fantastic ocean view, so different from my arid desert view. :)
Beautiful photos! Love your blue water picture:)
Since your blog is one of the blogs I follow, I just want to inform you that
now it's new life in Sweden and a new blog.
Welcome to visit http://norrkopingsblogg.blogspot.com/
Have a great Friday!/Maria
Fantastic captures and I do love that blue water and the lacy foam! That's a pretty gorgeous part of California! Hope you have a great weekend!
Sylvia
Leovi,
Thanks so much! Have a nice weekend:)
Dianne,
Of course, I'm choosing the most beautiful spots:)... downtown LA or some places in Riverside it is harder to find beauty.
Maria,
Thank you! And I'm going to look you up soon!
Sylvia,
Thank you, Sylvia! Haven't visited the Reflections yet, but I will asap. You have a great weekend!
Hi Jeanette,
You are lucky for traveling to so many countries. You have a very accomplished life. Love the pics of the falls and ocean. Thanks for visiting my blog.
Anne-Marie
Have a blessed week end!
I posted something today. Good to be back but not sure i can post as often as i would before due to work.
But it's good to be blog walking when i can again..
Hugs,
Silver
Wow, your friends have a really great view. Beautiful waterfall too.
Silver,
Good to hear from you again! It's okay to go at your own pace. enjoy your weekend!
Evelyn,
A view like that immediately refreshes you -I don't know if I could work with a view like that:)
The waterfall is in Yosemite Nation Park in California -worth the visit!
Gorgeous photos both, I like the blue water and yes, I would like to have such a view, but..
I envy your friends for having such a beautiful view! Blue ocean, which changes every time! My father, who wasw a sailor, used to say, that the sea never is the same colour.
Sehr schön... That waterfall is really impressive. And I think the rule of water reflecting the sky must be modified a little bit when the water falls straight down like that... ;)
I grew up in a town with waterfalls but they are "tamed", to produce electricity... They only let the waters flow free on special days.
Such a lovely shade of blue here.
nice shots, both of them. :)
I wish we had more of those beautiful blue skies. But our lakes do look blue most of the time. :)
Maia,
So would I! -Guess we'll have to live with what has been given to us:)
Reader Wil,
I could live with a hundred shades of blue! Your father was right!
Monika,
Yes, do you know that saying "rules are meant to be broken"?
That's a clever use of energy in your town! I vaguely remember that they also do that in Switzerland?
Iverness,
Thank you! That blue looks similar as to the bright blue poking through the big statue in your profile pic!
NatureFootstep,
Thanks! Went to your blog again, how do you have time to do all these blogs?? Loved the butterflies you posted.
EGWow,
Come and live in California -blue skies almost all the time:) But I don't know if Calif. would make you happy....
The picture of rocks in California seems like Brittany ;-)
How beautiful all this blue is. A color I am loving more all the time.
Sarah,
It's always good to see something you like and it's familiar!
Ruth,
I know you like blue from the photo of your last post:) Your story of true friends was very touching.
