(LAST) SUPERBOWL SUNDAY REFLECTION

We went down to San Diego last weekend, since the weather was balmy and sunny. No staring at the TV for us to wait which team would win. Wish the freeways in California were always like on Superbowl Sunday. They were all so empty, it was almost like ghost town!  Spent a few hours at Upstart Crow, a bookstore where  a cafe is connected to the bookstore.  My kind of reading and relaxing at the same time!

When hubby (not in this window!) starts reading, he's a goner. I mostly like some type of a break to window shop in the stores nearby. Discovered that the economy also had taken its toll here. Sigh, two of my favorite clothes shops were gone.
Well that shortened my break quite a bit. When I saw the reflections in the bookshop window from a distance I couldn't resist to use hubby's Tamron lens, so the reflections would show up more. For Weekend Reflections, hosted by James at http://newtowndailyphoto.blogspot.com
quaint patio of a restaurant - warm enough to sit outside

Also spent some time at Old Town where we shot some pics. At one corner there are a couple of Mexican restaurants, and in the weekend free performances of Mexican folklore dancers. The food is authentic and very reasonable. When you're in San Diego and like foreign food, that's the place to go.
Have a relaxing weekend, bloggie friends, and keep warm, you in the more Northern regions!

Very nice! I love San Diego! Is the new header photo taken in Balboa Park in San Diego?

Pat Tillett said...

DOH! Forget the Balboa Park question! I just saw the caption.

Libraries are such cool place to get reflections...

Great reflection! You must have had a great time on your trip to the bookshop. When I am in a bookshop I am also lost.

A cafe/bookshop is my favourite!
How sad that other shops are closing, though.

Patrick,
Thanks for answering your own question (smile) -I can see you're a true Californian!

Aruba,
Luckily for me, the travel was a barely 2 hour drive:) If you like to see more art, go ahead and click on art notes (top of right side bar)- enjoy your weekend!

Weaver,
Sorry, I feel for you, and all who live in the Northern regions who have to miss the sun! But...eventually(sigh) it will make its appearance also where you live.
There are "some" advantages to the city -this is one of them.

James,
You mean that you've never been in Seashore Village in San Diego? That's where "Upstart Crow" the bookshop& cafe if located. Maybe next time you come back to these neck of the woods?

Sylvia,
Thank you, and we probably will both be doing the same this weekend -look for good shots, LOL

Cieldequimper,
As fas as I know W-Eur. do not have these (yet),maybe because they're too concerned about people dirtying up the books. Actually, people are more apt to buy, once they've read a page, or few pages (on this side of the ocean at least).

'Tsuki,
Thank you! Actually it's not a library - it's a bookshop where they sell books, but...at the same time you can also drink coffee, tea with dessert there.

Reader Wil,
Thank you, Wil. Buying books could turn into an addiction for me - it's good that there are libraries, LOL.

A Free Spirit Butterfly,
Have to admit there were a few seconds that you almost fooled me with not knowing what a superbowl was!

Karen,
I know you're still in the snow...wish I could send you a little sunshine:) But in the summer you probably can send me some comforting words about the scorching heat here:)

Violetsky,
As I see things around me here in Los Angeles, economically it still will take a long time before we're "back" -who knows, that time won't come back.

You do make me miss those places, Jeannette. I have them clear enough in my memory to feel like I'm walking around there when you describe them. I would love some Mexican food. I'm nearly drooling for some.

A lovely post. San Diego is one of my all-time favourite cities, though we haven't been there in a long time. The photo of the roof of the botanical gardens is superb as is the window reflection one.

We spent a quiet Super Bowl Sunday. Had lunch with a friend at a nearby English restaurant, then dropped her off so she could take a nap. My husband and I did watch the Super Bowl. We were rooting for the Packers, and they won, Glory Be!

Have a Happy Valentine's Day.

I like the human warmth in your image. Very nicely done.

Thanks for stopping by my place.

We didn't get much chance to explore while in San Diego last fall. I can see we missed a lot.
Yosemite in winter is quite lovely but cold to sit outside and paint. We avoid the crowds of summer and usually visit in spring and fall.

Leia,
Thank you Friend! for me it's easy to have a lot of light in my pics, because it's not often cloudy:)

Carola,
Thanks for visiting! The beauty of it is that every time I take a shot of these windows it's different!

Dianne,
So agree with you, heaven for the weekend!

Irene,
Maybe you can save up for a trip to this side of the ocean? Lond time ago they had a Mexican restaurant in Amsterdam (simple food like tacos, etc.)

Anonymous,
Sounds like you had a great Sunday too! Like to visit your blog, but clicking on your name does not work to get me there, please email me your blog address? thanks!

EGWow,
Thank you, Friend! There's one advantage, I'll spend less money:):)

Awarewriter,
Thank you! And it was my pleasure to visit your blog!

Martha,
I know what you mean about the crowds - although close to the waterfalls this summer I had to put on extra clothes to paint (it was like rain)!

Very nice post and blog of course. Have a wonderful Sunday!

You know I'm a football fan but I would almost be tempted to go to that bookstore and hang out and miss the game. Unless of course the Cowboys were playing.

Gattina said...

Very nice reflection ! No super bowl in Europe, I didn't even know what it was and had to google, lol !
I never watch games on TV not even football (soccer).

Jeannette StG said...

Phivos,
Thank you! Hope you take a rest for celebrating Valentine's day with your family:)

Yogi,
It's okay, friend -do whatever you like to do:) Cowboys playing or not!
Wishing you a happy Valentine's Day!

Gattina,
There's only a superbowl Sunday in the USA, Gattina! I've never liked ball games anyway, so a good excuse for me and hubby to take a day off:)
Happy Valentine's Day!

i love it, esp. the reflective foto.

i share your dilemma when one of your favorite shop closes, the walk isn't complete.

i hope a new one opens though. ^0^
