Today, Tuesday, I like to acknowledge my 100th FOLLOWER! She is Merisi from VIENNA FOR BEGINNERS. She has a delightful blog with professional photos of the places only a Viennese would know about. I love her posts about coffee places, and all the impressive palaces and all the historical tidbits of musicians of the past. I have been with my family in Vienna myself during two vacations in Austria, and it was worth, educational and enjoyable every moment being there. So is Merisi's blog
As you see, I'm experimenting with background colors on my blog right now! Don't be surprised if it's another color every day this week:)
Someone is painting the sky, with the colors I would use, but it's not me!

Especially those dabs of gray - it's totally my style! I guess I can't charge nature with my copyright LOL! No retouching or photoshop here, folks.
Interestingly, when looking at the clouds, you would expect a huge storm coming, yet it didn't. The sky painter was just generous that evening with the colors of his palette.
I enjoyed these awesome skies and sunset thoroughly this year during my daily (supposedly daily:) ) exercise walks around the old neighborhood.

These clouds look like they are having a great party up there! ;-)
Hmmmm...I'm not sure what just happened to the comment I just wrote so I'll write another one!
I love your photos--they are just beautiful!
As you may know--I'm partial to clouds--and these photos are lovely.
Old amriners saying:
Red skies at night are a sailors delight,
red skies in the morning sailors take warning.
Since they are beautiful evening pictures, there was no storm. The clouds are wonderful!
The more colours the better, especially with their immense cloudy variety, I'd keep observing and notating regardless if others like it or not. If you start to pander to others you loose your center, you loose your own way........
At least your clouds bring no rain, whereas ours are very treacherous and threaten to drench us any minute.
It's a beautiful sky Jeannette. Nature's paintings can't be out done.
The sky is simply stunning, wow...
xo

Merisi,
I wonder what they're talking about at the party...:)
Beth,
As you can see, both of your comments arrived! Maybe it happened when I was working on the color of my blog...
I think og clouds as God's creative expressions - they can have all kinds of forms and colors, and they hold water in therm -amazing!
Joey,
thanks for sharing that!! My hubby originally comes from the country side, so he always knows what weather is coming by looking at the sky.
Petrus,
If I wouldn't have known you were an artist, I would have guessed it by your comment:) As a artist I would wholeheartedly agree, but as a therapist, I guess it's a give and take of the two.
By the way, did you see my new art blog? I stated it two weeks ago.
Click in the right colum on"view my complete profile."
Then click on ART NOTES on the bottom of the page that appears. This will take you to Art Notes.
Enjoy!
Irene,
True. Don't envy you in the winter!
But...guess what...today it's raining here, and my daughter in Sac. emailed me that it's snowing up there! One of those rare exceptions!!
Gaelyn,
So true! Especially you being all the time in nature knows that!
Zuzanna,
Yes, itsn't it? Especially a sunset with such contrasting, almost conflicting colors:) Glad you enjoyed it.
Ooh, I like the blue type!!
Thank you Pamela! I'm not sure though if it stays this way:)
Thank you for the information about St. Nicholas customs in Holland! I researched further after that and found a very interesting website,
http://www.stnicholascenter.org/Brix?pageID=205,
which also mentions Black Peter.
Those are some gorgeous skies hanging above your head, Jeannette.
I would call that a mackerel sky - here in the UK we say "mackerel sky not long to be dry." Has it rained yet?
Merisi,
Thank you! you are thorough, dear lady! This week I'm going to look it up. and...thanks for the "follow"!
Angie,
Thank you -aren't they? too beautiful to just let it go by without recording it in some way!
Weaver,
that's an interesting expression:) I can't remember, Weaver, I took this pic in the summer -sorry!
Love the photos of the mackerel sky and the new colours of your blog background - off to see photos of Vienna now:)
Rosie,
you're the second that mentions mackerel sky, I had never even seen it (that's what you have with city-dwellers LOL).
What wonderful textures and contrasts in colours in your skies. You see beautifully. Its brilliant seeing life from the fifth dimension. :)
Natural moments,
Even though I'm a city dweller, and I like shopping, I also like the comtemplative life, in art, nature, God, and psychology. It brings me much joy, and especially peace of mind.
This is the second time I get to be someone's 101. Yay!
Beautiful skies, Jeannette.
beautiful clouds like the wind is blowing them away.
I like the new design of your blog, Jeannette. And the header photo is magnificent. A real eye-catcher.
The clouds in these photo feel contemplative to me.
Paula,
Aaah, No. 1 of a new 100! Thank you!
I wonder what these photos would have been like, if you would have taken them:).
The longer I'm on Blogger, the more I realize that photography is a real art!!
Ann,
Exactly! Thanks for visiting my blog:) Hope you'll come to visit again!
Eki,
the header comes from hubby (husband) - this was taken on his photo class trip to Long Beach ocean front. I passed on your compliment to him.
Clouds are a tremendous source for my imagination - I can always see a story in them.
Thank you fro your question about the Chinese in New Zealand.
Like the early Chinese who went to USA to build the railroad in America in the 1850s.
The Chinese have been in New Zealand for over 130 years. Originally, they were twice invited from Victoria, Australia to the province of Otago in 1865 to rework its goldfields,(1) and their first mining party arrived at the end of that year
What a beautiful expressive sky! It looks like a wintersky!I wish you a great time before Christmas.
Beautiful skies ... thanks for sharing your photo's with us :)
hey you! How are you?
i always enjoy pictures of the clouds.. if only we can move away with them!
love & hugs,
~Silver
Reader Wil,
Yes, it could be a winter sky, and would be very fitting. But as you can guess, in California everything is different, even the clouds (LOL), because these pics were taken in the summer -can you believe it?
Ann,
Thanks for your quick reply! And thank you for updating my on that history -wow, it must have been such a culture shock for your forefathers!
Lynda,
It must be a triple-busy time for you in preparation for Christmas and keeping up with 2 children! Take a pauze to spend some time on yourself each day!
Silver,
Yes, that would be great to move along the sky with the clouds! I am fine, how about you??
The textures and colors are subtle and striking both!
Quiet Paths,
sorry, I finally ma getting back to you -the holidays have been distracting me! Nature is the best artist!
