THE MOST BEAUTIFUL ON THE WALL

For Our World
For ABC - Lamp

With a complicated scene such as this, black and white
makes it even more difficult to discern what stands in which place.
Maybe I would have detected 2,
but not 3 places in the photo until I saw the colored version.

Today I had kind of a wake up call that I had slowly drifted away
from my blog's theme:   Mysteries.
So, here is one for you.
This store in Old Town San Diego - great to browse:)
had a few big mirrors
but this one was the most intriguing
I felt being in one world, but seeing another.
Did you see in the black and white version
that the lamp was on?
Is the black lamp hanging in the tree?
Is it a patio I see on the left side,
or am I looking through a window?

My advise for Alphabe is
TRY very hard!

The two pictures look really different. I prefer the colored one with mellow colors.

Even with the color there are thing i do not know and the color actually confuses me more.
That the lamp is on was clear in both, but the mirror issue seems clearest in the color

Very cool mystery. I could look at these photos for ages. I think the b/w shows some of the details better than the color.
What a clever display. I think it might be a patio...

You're right, Jeannette, it is difficult to discern the depth and placement of some of the objects. Big difference in the two shots.

Beagle Annie,
Later I wondered if Black and white pics are more effective with a simple scene: Have a great week!

Joey,
Wonder if for you it's even harder. Your eyes are not back to what they could do before, or? Have a great Easter week!

Stephanie,
Oh, can't keep a secret from you! You guessed right! Have a great week:)

BJK,
Thank you for your comment. Have a great Easter week!

Liz,
Thank you Liz! Have a great week before Easter!

Hans,
Thank you, Hans! Does everyone also have a day off on Monday (like in Holland, where I'm originally from)?

Leah H.,
Thank you! Have a great week!

Tatjana,
Thank you, Tatjana! Are there traditions for Easter week where you live?

The photo itself has a lot of mysteries. With the greenery, I could feel that someone is spying! LOL!

P.S. Never been to Old Town yet.

Both are good, but the colours make it more alluring. Thanks for visiting.
Have a good week ahead.

It's a nice mystery, looking at the two versions and seeing different things in each one.

I love this set of photos! What a startling difference going from black and white to color makes! I really didn't even notice the lamp until looking at the color photo. And I think that's a window, but not positive...

nice comparison!
I've been to San Diego (I have a sister there), so I'll look that place up. Love the light rail service!

It's interesting to see the difference in the coloured and black and white versions. The lamp is much harder for me to place in the B&W.

Such a wonderfully mysterious photo. I love reflections like this.

Ebie,
I had that same feeling while I was standing there - kept looking around (who knows there was a camera in that corner, lol!

Rheka,
Thank you!I agree -the colored one is easier to look a:) You have a great week too!

Sallie,
Thank you - the "moral" of the story is that we're not always aware of what we see:)

Cynthia,
Thank you for visiting here. Yes, on the left you look through the window to a patio. Thanks for visiting here!

Roger,
It's in the corner of Old Town close to the big lawn with tall trees, behind where all the restaurants are.

Wifetoalineman,
Thanks so mucch and have a great week!

Reader Wil,
It's not as much about the answer as about that when one sees something, one may draw the wrong conclusions (a principle much used in court cases here). Gezegende Paasdagen, Wil!

EG Cameragirl,
It's only that I was there myself, that I know all the details:):) Have a great week!

Dragonstar,
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for visiting here!

I really like the way the two pictures give such different views of the same thing. Nice!

I love photographing reflections, whether in mirrors or water or windows...the layering can be so interesting. And yes, you do have to TRY hard to understand what's going on.

I it much easier to delineate the items in the color photo. At first I though I was looking at a reflection in a mirror until I started to compare image to image.

Okay, I was just in Old Town in San Diego last November and missed this lovely shop. The light rays get lost in the white background in the first photo. I believe the color photo is actually a mirror, and it is revealing to us what's in front of it! I so love these kinds of photos, because the person viewing them can be fooled so easily! Great post!

Pat Tillett said...

Hey there!
I'm at a loss! I can't figure out what is coming from where! Hope all is well and that you have a nice easter.

H said...

It has to be a mirror because all of the close up pants are reflected. I think you are looking back into a room with a window. The lamp is in the room just behind where you are standing. It is casting shadows on the stonework round the mirror.

H said...

plants, not 'pants'... LOL

Your photography is exquisite! I really enjoyed comparing the black and white with the colored picture!

Thanks for stopping by my post on our PE Department! They do have a good time in class.

I grew up in Buena Park about a block from Knott's. I have family in San Diego. We love going to Old Town when we visit!

Looking forward to exploring your blog more!

Leovi,
Thank you for visiting! Help! I don't know that last word! Are you making that one up or is it a typo?

Anita,
Thank you Anita! Don't know what things are going on for you, but I have to keep thinking about you. Everything okay?

Esther Joy,
Well, I wouldn't call myself a master, but on second thought...(just kidding:) )

Beckyp,
Thanks for stopping by, Becky!

Ames,
It's surprising that so many reacted to these 2 pics. Thanks for your visit!

Karen S.,
It is like you said, a mirror. And the great five away were the plants:):) But the patio on the left is till hard to figure out.

Patrick,
Hey, great to see you back here! Yes I had a great Easter with my kids and grand kids in Sacramento.

H -2 times,
Wow, you are good!!
I've made more stupid typos than that, H!

Noexcuses,
OH MY GOODNESS - I've lived for 15 years in La Habra (Beach and Imperial)! Just two years ago we moved to Costa Mesa.

The comment "being in one world and seeing in another" sounds like the vision of the artist that is always seeing through the world of imagination and feeling. I call your experience a waking dream where the outer experience reflects the inner.

As soon as I saw the picture, I liked the place and said "wow what a wonderful place to sit and write"
But now that you have asked those questions I am puzzled. Is the tree inside or outside?
