POLAND'S SUNFLOWERFIELDS

Long time ago we saw beautiful sunflower fields
somewhere on the way in Poland coming in from Germany's side,

to Warsaw (Warzawa), or going south between Warsaw and Krakow
(time to get your maps out:)  - one hint: it's in Europe)
we saw unending oceans of yellow
they gave me a new perspective of the sunflower

Haven't kept up with the horrible news
after a plane crashed with the Polish president
and other high ranking government officials,
on the way to Russia for an important meeting.
Inconceivable what horror and grief a country must go through
when it is suddenly bereft of their leaders.

To remember Poland, I thought to post my sunflower painting
on ART NOTES (click on top image of right side bar)
I posted before in my Celebrity Collection of Januariy 26, 2009
That their sunflower fields may be a sign
of new light and hope in a time of darkness

I never saw orange sunflowers before, just the pure yellow kind. They look great together. And also in your painting at the other blog!

Sunflower fields as "a sign of new light and hope in a time of darkness." Beautiful.

Our prayers are with the families of those lost in that plane crash. I can't even begin to imagine their pain.

Your sunflowers are incredible. And they fill my eyes, which is the greatest compliment I can give.

Such sad times in Poland at the moment. I am glad you have your memories of sunflowers.

I stood in the center of a sunflower field last summer. It was intoxicating.

Monika,
Never saw the orange kind till I lived here in the USA - I don't know if they're imported or if the orange-red kind also grows here...

San,
Thank you, San!Enjoyed visiting your blog and catching up with you:)

Beth,
Thank you -these were a gift bouguet! Poland was a new experience (then) -one of them was, "you just go straight for a mile..." we ended up 30 kilometers further:)

Pamela,
I did not like yellow till I saw these yellow fields to the horizon -indeed - intoxicating!

Beauty as a sign of hope in darkness. What a rare heart you have.

The pictures are lovely. Those impacted by the tragic deaths will be in my prayers.

May beauty and peace be your constant companions, Roland

What a wonderful choice to pay tribute to those who have died and what spectacular and vibrant flowers they are! I can only imagine how beautiful that sight must have been.

There's a polish blogger with some 250 followers, and when the tragedy happened, only two people me and a lady from Philipine extended our condolences to the polish nation, through his blog.
I felt bad about such lack of sensitivity on the part of his followers.

As for the sunflower. I must admit I've never seen an orange sunflower, only a yellow one, but it's OK. Both colors are beautiful and this plant is warming hearts and giving hope.

Duta,
Don't know if it has to do with the following? We don't hear or see much on TV about the rest of the world, unless we are interested in it (the people who have traveled are), and then we need to go looking for it, or researching it.
You would be surprised how many people here in the US have not traveled overseas (really, it's true!)

About the red sunflowers -maybe they're especially bred (or painted:) )...
