TREEWEAVER

For Sky Watch
For Weekend Reflections

This is a thumbnail of the photo of Weaver of Grass
who gave me permission  to use  this photo that was
for some time as a header on her blog. I was mesmerized!
It reminded me of the time that as a young girl
I rode my bike
every day to school, the store, my friends...
in wind, in rain, in sunshine, beneath the clouds.
So I loved when there were tall trees beside the road.

In the beginning the tree trunks were just a few little sticks
But you can see with the reflection of the 3rd trunk on the right
I already made a mistake!

The colors of this painting were a cinch.
Unexpectedly much more time was spent on keeping my ducks
(tree trunk, and tree crowns) in a row.
For Sky Watch I'll have to say, painters call these "skyholes."

 Treeweaver, 8 1/2 x 11 1/2 Pastel, St Germain

Weaving at dizzying speed
when I bike by
 trunks and crowns
waving with smiles
of contentment
What is the hurry
slow down your flurry
enjoy the shadowy leaves
after all we're in it for
the fun of beating the sun
at its game and double up
in the reflections of the flow of water

On second look
I enjoyed every leaf, branch, trunk
I waved and smiled
for after all
next summer
the dizzying arrangement
of colors and mood will make me wonder
if I'm on the wrong road

My patience paid off - and just had to post my painting
(the signature on the left is not on the painting itself)

Your finished work is beautiful! It's fun to see the process, also, and the mistake!

Good eye. That's exactly what the trees look like when you're whizzing by on a bike.

nicw work. I didn't see any mistake, so I guess that is why I am not an artist!

Very nicely done painting, Jeannette. It's interesting to see the process. I didn't realize so many colors were involved. Thanks for showing us.

Oh Jeannette ... this is one of my favorite posts. I love seeing the process of creation from photo to finished! It gives me goosebumps and brings tears to my eyes. The finished piece is so alive - and so beautiful!

Dimple,
Thank you, blogfriends seem to like the process -even my mistakes:)

Tina,
Thank you for the invite!

Stephanie,
Thank you -you must like biking:)

Rebecca,
If I would point it out to you with my finger, you would see it right away, Rebecca:)

2sweetnsaxy,
Thank you, blood sweat and tears mainly, dear friend:)

Ewok,
Practice makes eventually perfect, but thanks!

Kim,
Hope your 4th of July was great, as was mine;) Thanks about the painting!

Karen,
Thank you, friend. Glad you like it!

Rudee,
To keep ourselves happy, we have to keep doing what we do best, you in knitting, I in painting:)

Betsy,
Thank you, the poem is an expression in words that I saw from the beginning in Weaver's photo.

Irene,
Thank you! Do you work a similar way, Irene? Or differently?

Clytie,
Your words ecpress so much feeling and compassion Clytie. Have you ever thought of pastoring or being a missionary, or something like that?

Absolutely beautiful Jeannette - and such a clever title. The poem beneath it goes so well - I can just imagine you on the cycle path by the side of the canal. Thank you for interpreting it in such a lovely way.

your painting is wonderful!
beautiful
I love how you captured the real photo

I'm not nearly as observant as you are. I make everything up in my head. Everything is fantasy. I don't know if I could draw from real life. I thinks it's a challenge that you're more than capable of.

Weaver,
Thank you, Weaver! In my childhood (in Holland) my bike got me places, and I loved roads with trees, because they were a barrier for the wind:)

Dianne,
Thank you, friend! It helped that the photo has a perfect design for a painting!

Chubskulit,
Thanks so much and have a great rest of the week:)

Irene,
Wow, I had no idea -hope you make more use of your imagination -THAT is a talent!

Shirley,
Maybe I've spent an incredible amount of time in practicing:):) Thanks for visiting!

Heather,
Thank you, and for visiting as well. Happy you like the painting! I love trees and never can paint too many!

Fascinating! It can't be the easiest photo to paint, but you did it SO well - even the reflections in the water look natural.

Your painting is so evocative of the Loire canal.

Johnina,
Thank you, Friend! For me the process has most meaning! But I understand that for the viewers the end result is what they like to see.

Eileen,
Thank you Friend! Hope your weekend is enjoyable as well:)

Sivinden,
Thank you -it was fun and energizing to do it:)

Arija,
Thank you so much, Friend!

Jabblog,
I know I'm a spoiled girl with this easel:)
And this pastel is a piece of the UK (if you want to look up Weaver of Grass blog, she's on my blog roll(list) on the right side - just click on "show all" if you don't see hers)

Beth,
Thank you so much! Heard from your sis on my other blog that you are a writer! I would be honored to be featured!

OOoh, THAT is who's talking! Our Mom is also a writer--she has a blog--so far I don't except for what I write about the pictures and artwork I put up.

Mumsie's blog addy is http://evagibson.blogspot.com/. I know she'd love to hear from you, too. (grin) She does really good by email. I actually manage her blog for her.

Keep writing--I haven't done much of that for awhile--am just getting back into it myself.

((hugs)) Thank you for your kind comments!

You did an amazing job! The painting really good. At first I thought the water was a photo and sone how you painted the trees around it.

Love the painting, especially the water. But loved how the various photos, etc preceding the painting reminded your of younger days and pursuits.

Fabulous, loved how you have captured the reflections on the water.
